Hey Sebby, can you make a video geared towards Americans living aboard such as Europe, Asia, Australia

I have one data point that might interest some people out there. I applied for a new chase credit card recently and received their “we are reviewing your application, please allow 7-10 business days”. So I called the recon line to get to the bottom of it. After speaking to the rep he asked if I would be willing to lower some of my credit limit on the other cards and I said yes. Here is where things got interesting. I couldn’t lower my credit limit on the Amazon prime card nor a Disney card that I got a while ago. Also, in order to lower credit limits, accounts have to be at least 1 year old. On top of that, for some reason I couldn’t lower my credit on my chase freedom flex which has a $10,7000 limit. Waiting to see if they approve me regardless

How do you used stacked free hotel nights? Is there an explanation on your wrbsite?
@AskSebbyКүн бұрын
Book them individually using the free night certificates, and then have the hotel link the reservations.

Could you describe how you successfully used the club level upgrade on the Ritz Carlton card because it's a bit confusing to use and when I called to "upgrade" a stay for a future travel it seemed like they didn't actually rebook using the upgrade certificate but rather just had me pay for the club level booking outright?
@AskSebby2 күн бұрын
Yes, you need to call the Ritz reservation line to book and have them apply the Club Level upgrade. Cash bookings only.

I'm a little lucky and am grandfathered in on Savor, so I can have that card without a fee. Still miss when it had 8% on restaurants and 4% on Groceries. The miles cards never make sense to me. Yeah their points are just called miles they aren't real miles, I get that. Though the worth of miles is like the stock market. I've seen posts on reddit of people able to fly business class on overseas flights for 55k miles on what would have been a 3.6k flight. Meanwhile there will be people spending 15k miles just to fly half way across the country on a flight that would have been $350. I'm just sort of at the whim of whatever the points gods feel like miles will be worth that day. With the Savor though I just get a piggy bank that builds. I don't have to guess what a transfer rate will be or anything and I still get offered discounts if I book through capital one travel apps.

I hope the Antarctica trip happens for you so I can get more ideas on how to do it. It’s on my bucket list also but I think I will have to aim for 2026 because I have 3 weeks in Asia and 2 weeks in South Africa slated for this year a long with a couple of domestic trips. You can see 🐧 on an island off the coast of Peru tho but it’s a habitat so you aren’t getting incredibly close but still an awesome experience.

I’m planning the Savor and Venture X my credit score is above 782 on all three bureau. Which should I get first? I only have a few cards open at the moment short term the Savor would be beneficial sooner and I plan 6 months later venture X. But what do you think?
@anthonyc84993 күн бұрын
Restaurants are fine for points but what I need most are grocery stores. Getting 2x at a minimum on groceries, this is where DL Amex Gold and Platinum have the edge. AS lounge access is a big deal though. 🐻

Hi. I got my AMEX Gold for free when I opened up my Ameriprise Account in 2006. It was free for many years and then they started charging an annual fee. It started small and they kept increasing the fee and then they downgraded the card without notification to a Green card when they raised the annual fees. It was $90 for a few years and just this year they raised it to $150. My question is how badly it would affect my FICO score if I cancel this card after nearly 20 years? Is there a way for me to find out?

Hi all, silly question but I was given a couple of stand by tickets to use in 2025. In planning on using the Denver Airport to travel to Mexico City with Aeromexico. Anybody know if you can access a Capital 1 lounge with stand by ticket if I have the Venture X ? I guess the answer is no but worth asking. Thanks in advance

1. I’m currently sitting at 2/24 so 3 Chase cards (Flex, Preferred, Boundless) before moving onto Citi. I have the C1 Duo so I’m set with C1. 2. Most of my 2025 travel plans are already booked so no redemptions in mind at the moment. 3. Workout more consistently

🐧 Being Team Cash Back, I have all the cards that I really need. I'm still hoping to get off the Robinhood Gold Card waitlist. Other than that, the only card that I have my eye on is the AmEx Blue Cash Everyday for the 3% for Online Purchases. My hesitation is whether the exceptions would exclude my purchases and whether the extra 1% from my 2% Everything Else card is worth taking out another line of credit.

I’d love to see you do a comparison of points vs cash back where the cash back is auto invested - cards like M1 finance and Fidelity.
@curmudgeonextraordinaire18844 күн бұрын
Unless any of those cards offer affiliate links, good luck having any KZbin creator talking about them.
@technologypoet4 күн бұрын
@ yah I figured this was the main reason few KZbinrs cover them. Which begs the question - what are the best credit card deals that don’t have an affiliate link?
@AskSebby4 күн бұрын
I do have an affiliate link for M1 Finance, but it's not something my core audience would be interested in 😉

🐧 So I have the AMEX Platinum but I’ve been thinking about switching to Delta Reserve and canceling because I’d like to have my main airline card get me status and lounges. Do you think I should cancel AMEX plat for delta reserve or keep AMEX plat and ignore delta reserve? I can’t justify having both so it’s one or other.

My plans (I start the year at 2/24): 1. IHG Premier. This will give me a FNC for when I go to my college homecoming (3/24). 2. Either an Ink or one of the Avios cards. Saving Avios for a trip in the future (Maldives on QR) (4/24 if Avios; 3/24 if Ink). 3a. Depending on what it entails, maybe the Alaska Airlines Visa Infinite (what I’m tentatively calling the new premium Alaska Airlines card), as the companion certificate(s) could be useful now that I have a P2 (5/24 if Avios at 2, 4/24 if Ink at 2). 3b. If the Alaska Airlines Visa Infinite turns out to be a dud, I’ll probably go for either more Inks or more Avios cards (5/24 | 4/24 | 3/24).
