The reference to Tennessee whiskey is because Jack Daniels is made in Lynchburg Tennessee which happens to be a dry county.

I still maintain that Tennessee Whiskey refers to Jack Daniels and not moonshine. And yes I know Lynchburg is the county seat of a dry county and that tastings are permitted at the distillery. And I also know that the song is about the love of a good woman being better than whiskey. Sebs said that he did not drink and he really couldn't understand the connection between Tennessee whiskey and a woman's love. I gave him the short version and left out one tiny word "in" the last sentence. You're welcome.

Ok, Josh Sheffield, I bow to your superior knowledge about "Tennessee Whiskey". I've never had moonshine or Jack Daniels, but I grew up in Tennessee and always thought Jack Daniels was Tennessee whiskey.

Chris Stapleton - "Cold" 2021 CMA Awards I believe you would like it alot. As a general rule he is better live, the "canned" stuff just seems to lack some of that character. My theory is it's a combination of how he responds to an audience and the fact that the production tends to take away some of that grit.

I loved the Timberlake collaborations. But what I found most interesting is his wife's comment about how he wrote the song, Daddy Doesn't Pray Any More. Everyone is so impressed about how he wrote it while waiting for her to get ready to go out and marvels at the speed. But that is not the special part. She points out that he did not write the song as much as he pulled it out of the material floating around his brain. That is what Loretta Lynn and Hank Willaims did and what Dolly Parton and Willy Nelson do. There is a lot of music inside, and all you do is pull out what feels right to you. That is why the whole nonsense about copying and influence is absurd. When immersed in the culture, a lot floats around in your mind, and if you are creative enough, you are not bound to some strict formalism that must be obeyed. Chris has that. So do a few other great young songwriters that most of us never hear of because of how the music industry was structured. But that is changing now, and technology allows more of them a chance to be heard. Channels like this can do a lot of good if some of those guys get more exposure, so I hope to hear a few now and then rather than just rehash some of the responses that everyone does. (Even though that material needs to be covered as well.)

You popped up in recommended, which is why I’m just now commenting. Anyway, there are only 3 words needed to describe Chris Stapleton and they are “God given talent”. You also gained a new sub.

The great thing about country music is that was born from gospel, blues and western genres. It was the birthplace of rockabilly - where rock and roll and pop began. I just found your channel and i love that you are looking at music that you have historically not cared about. Have fun and let us follow along!

Enjoyed this for the first time with you and I am not a typical country fan either. Chris Stapleton is very well known all over the world and this song I have heard on the Voice shows in Europe! Also Jack Daniels is made in Tennessee, which is a very highly regarded drink if you ARE into alcohol. I always enjoy your reactions so thank you. ☺

Saw him live and let me tell you. Simply amazing. Set had probably 25 songs and he played a new guitar for every one of them. His voice and guitar playing were both amazing
