How in the hell was he supposed to get out of the blast radius in that time? And I don't buy that Alfred would just nod and leave it at that upon seeing Bruce who was like a son to him and realizing he's alive. I think it's crap.

Imagine being Tom Hardy, seeing Heath Ledger absolutely nail a performance so much as the previous villain, that he got a post-humous Oscar -- and for a comic book movie. Comic book movies traditionally never win mainstream awards. Then coming in as Bane and building a villain that was equal or perhaps more well portrayed than the Joker. There was so much pressure to not fall into the "wasn't as good as Joker" and yet he nailed it. Awesome artwork. I would also give a shoutout to Michael Caine's performance -- through the whole series he just nailed Alfred. The scene of him mourning at the funeral is just chef's kiss. Such a powerful performance.
@videohistory7223 жыл бұрын
I think he just simply reminded himself he's not supposed to be the Joker. He's supposed to be Bane. Which gives him free reign to focus on that specific character and how he wants to portray it.

Such an underrated epic masterpiece. I love all 3 films, they are all excellent, but this is my second favorite. Not as much as The Dark Knight (my favorite movie of all time), but this is like my 2nd favorite film of all time. While it has issues, I have watched it countless times! It’s so epic! So quotable! So emotional! So well paced! Tom Hardy’s Bane is also a perfect villain that almost rivals Heath Ledger. Speaking of rivaling The Dark Knight, the opening scene somehow rivals the bank heist. They are both equal opening scenes in my eyes. Also, this might be part of why I love it, but this film was filmed in Pittsburgh, which is where I grew up and still live. I was 4 when this film came out so I remember my dad telling my stories of him seeing the Batmobile and hearing Tom Hardy’s Bane at Heinz Field. This is a very special movie to me! Still love it to this day!

I agree. I’ve heard sum ppl say his voice isn’t intimidating, but I don’t think that’s a detriment. The joker’s voice wasn’t very intimidating, but that doesn’t matter because what made him scary was his insane schemes and unhinged personality. Similarly, what makes Bane scary is his awesome strength and presence. The voice is more so trying to replicate the mannerisms of James Bond villains, so it works

Worth watching as the video of the opening scene with Banes original voice. In first screening, audiences complained they couldn't understand what he was saying so they made Tom Hardy re-record his dialogue, which is why it sounds so strange compared to the rest of the film (at a much higher volume, higher pitch overly clarifying each word, doesn't contain the cool metallic vader-esque mask effect/sounds like it was recorded in a small booth). I find it much better and creepier/menacing. Gutted they didn't put it back in for the home release, but it can be seen/heard on youtube in a low quality that someone recorded from that first screening.

This is a great underrated film. It's loosely based on the comic The Dark Knight Returns, which is about a grim dystopian future where Batman has grown old and bitter and has gone into retirement only to be forced back into superheroics due to a violent new gang and the return of the Joker. It's also very influenced by the Knightfall comic which was Bane's first appearance in the comics. He had a similar plan of taking control of Gotham and famously beat Batman and broke his back, temporarily paralyzing him. It's such a classic moment in comics as it marked one of the first times that Batman had been completely defeated by an enemy in such a way. It may not reach the heights of the Dark Knight but I honestly don't think any film could. I really love the first half of this film but was slightly disappointed by the ending and the reveal about Bane and Talia. Feel like it could've been done better. but overall the film is still great and a worthy addition to Nolan's stellar trilogy.

21:30 Because in a sense by Bane releasing every single prisoner from Blackgate and Arkham onto the streets free to do whatever they want with Batman gone and the police trapped underground, it’s basically giving the city back to the people and leaving them at their own mercy to do whatever they want with a false sense of hope that either they can fight and win or Batman might come back, and at the same time rubbing in the fact that they’re going to die anyway because “this is how overrun with crime this city is”, Bane’s so devoted to the league’s goal of, throughout history all they’ve wanted to do was achieve absolute justice, but through a really backwards way of if a city was so overrun with crime and corruption they’d just blow the living fuck out of it and make it start over because that’s easier than just wiping the criminals out one by one and trying their hardest to spare the innocent in the process. Essentially him flooding the city with crime and war is giving him the right reasons to blow the fuck out of it
