@WoodCraft Kits eh... even with Nolan it's pretty clear cut it largely hinted at him living. Going to Paris w Selina, Foxx smiling at the autopilot because he knows. I guess it's like you said open for possibility, but there's more that points toward him surviving then not

@WoodCraft Kits Well sure, but, if Bruce had indeed died, then there’s no use for that last scene with Alfred and Celina. Idk, maybe he dunked under the water when the detonation happened. He’s Batman so it’s safe to assume he had an oxygen tank onboard the Bat which let him breathe under water. He probably swam to the shore. There. Hehe.

@WoodCraft Kits It's made pretty clear that Bruce was able to eject from the Bat and it flew the bomb away on autopilot. Also, as Eldritch pointed out, Selina is wearing Bruce's mother's pearls. That's further support that it really happened and wasn't just imagined by Alfred.

The interesting thing about “the climb”, and more importantly the “jump” is that the rope’s weight is probably just enough to weigh a person down enough to NOT make the jump. But by not using the rope you are now able to make the jump successfully. It’s extremely clever.

That’s not it at all. Having the rope means you don’t fear the fall as you know you will survive so you don’t give everything you have to the jump whereas without it you are guaranteed to die if you fall so you fully commit to the jump. The adrenaline from the fear makes it possible.
@pduidesign
@pduidesign Жыл бұрын
@@bd4315 I think it’s both. That is a heavy rope and probably weighs enough to cut half a foot from your jump. Whether you have fear or not can change how far you jump but at some point you can only jump as far as you are capable of jumping. The rope would always knock your best jump down because of the weight.
@bd4315
@bd4315 Жыл бұрын
@@pduidesign the whole point of that segment is about how he needs to be afraid of dying. The weight of the rope is not a factor otherwise it would be directly mentioned. They even have the bats come out on his final climb to trigger his fear as if you remember the bale Batman is afraid of bats. The weight of the rope would have a subjective effect depending on the individual’s strength, you are overthinking the scene my friend.

Bruce definitely lived. They dropped hints earlier in the movie about the Bat not having autopilot so that we would see that he added it himself to survive that scene. I didn't like this movie when it first came out. I felt it was a huge step down from the two previous entries in the trilogy, but it has definitely grown on me over the years and now I like it as much as the other two. The little details such as Bruce and Tate being the only ones at the party without masks because their public personas are already a mask and that bit at the end where Alfred sees Bruce across the cafe after he thought he was dead and he's not only with Selina but she's actually wearing his mother's pearls are just perfect. Batman doesn't usually get to retire and settle down, but in this movie it somehow worked, especially since he also set up his replacement with John Robin Blake.

I agree, though I think The Dark Knight is still better, in many ways. Think is equal to Batman Begins, though -- maybe a bit better. The theme/story is what holds this movie, not the action and such. This movie isn't better than I thought, it's deeper than I thought. The action, etc. itself is still pretty average, and nowhere near as good in purely filmic terms as the first two. P.S. I strongly disagree. It never works, and it didn't work here, either. And, there is no proof he is alive. It's left open, and there is strong evidence that he died. Alfred was just seeing a dream. Not real. It doesn't work within the comics or story of Batman for him to settle down with Catwoman. It's purely a dream. It's like if Santa became the Devil to open a candle shop and then had five husbands. Sure, somebody could write that story. But, it doesn't make sense. Just like Batman settling down with Catwoman doesn't make sense. It's anti-history, anti-Batman, anti-logic, and anti-symbolism.

It bugged me so much to think that they were altering the character so drastically. Then it turned out that they weren't. I've since softened on this movie a ton. It really is better than I thought it was when I was 20.

Ditto. I was not impressed. And I’m still kind of unhappy about the injury-as-a-learning-opportunity trope. In movies a lot of the time someone gets seriously hurt and they just bounce back and are even incredibly physically active. In real life… pain often becomes chronic and it can wreck and ruin lives, especially if the people around the person in pain aren’t supportive and don’t get it. Seeing this kind of portrayal so commonly in media sets up this expectation that you just fight really hard to get back to where you were and you can do it. Just have determination and sheer willpower and you can get back to normal. That’s really damaging. It implies that people who suffer and don’t improve to pre-injury levels of activity are not worthy or lesser than, that they just don’t have enough drive. It’s seen as weak. I don’t dislike the movie as a whole as much as I did when it was in theaters. But I still… the use of the trope alone keeps it from being in the realm of a great movie for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

32:21 the best way to cross ice like that is to crawl or go on your belly. Cuz when you stand, all of your weight is in one tiny spot. If you spread out, your weight is spread out making it easier for the ice to hold. So no, don’t run haha.

As a brazilian, I saw the dubbed movie first, and although i like Tom Hardy a lot, I thought Bane much more intimidating and dark with the brazilian dubbing, done by Guilherme Briggs. Maybe you want to check out a brief comparison, just search for "Comparação entre a voz de Bane: Áudio Original e Dublagem"

I love this movie movie so much I have nearly every Bane and Alfred line memorized by now. It'll be cool to see what you think of The Batman if you ever watch it, I love TDK Trilogy but the new one I might like more just because it's got everything I've always wanted from a Live Action Batman with all the Detective work

The prisoners in that ancient prison can get out anytime they want. They have a rope. They have metal down there. Break off a piece of metal, bend it into a grappling hook, tie it to the rope. Climb up as high as you can, then heave that rope with the hook up over the edge. Climb out.

I feel like Bane in this movie is one of the most underrated villains ever. He isn't just physically very intimidating but also smart enough to outsmart Batman. I would even go as far as to say I was more scared of Bane than of the Joker, because you kinda knew there is no way Batman ever really loses a physical fight against him, and is kinda guaranteed to come out on top, but with Bane being so strong and Batman being at his lowest make it a much more interesting match. Its also kinda insane how they managed to make Bane look, because he really physically looks like he could take all of Batmans punches and seems nearly invincible

I love this film. Personally I prefer it to the Dark Knight, I know I know, it's a matter of taste. I love the allusions to the french revolutions, with Bane as a Napoleon figure, a revolutionary who became a dictator and Bane knitting in the Scarecrow's courtroom is a reference to the old ladies who would do so, chuckling over Robespierre's death sentences. Even Bane's lovely coat is a reference to the frock coats of the time. The suggestion that if something isn't done about inequality then someone else, someone very bad might do something about it. The suffering of the French people was real, but the nobility preferred to throw balls - like the Charity dinner we see - and lord it over the people instead of helping them, and things reached a tipping point and for all the noble intent of the revolution it led to The Terror. I also love the psychology and mind-games. Bane literally Batmans Batman. He's a shadowy figure of mystery and legend with no real past and impossible power. To quote R'as Al Ghul, he became more than just a man in the minds of his enemies. Meanwhile, he calls Batman Bruce, humanising him and robbing him of his power against ordinary people. He turns Batman into an ordinary man in a cape. At the film's climax, Bruce has done what seems impossible to Bane, and succeeded in escaping the prison as only Talia, Bane's messiah has done. He's gained a little of her magic and restored himself to a symbol, and he knows Banes' story, humanising him and turning him, once more, into just a man in a mask. I really love the score, too. Deshi deshi basaran basaran!

Ben Mendos line about peeing into majon jars is a reference to Howard Hughes who was an Eccentric Billionaire Inventor/Film Maker of the early 90s. He's who Leonardo Dicaprios character is based off of in the Aviator. An amazing movie if you've never seen it.

I'm one of hundreds of voices in the chant from this film. 😁 I dig it. Alex forgetting that Bruce has been out of commission for quite some time, hence him gettin WHUPPED by Bane. He has to rebuild his strength especially after getting his back broke lol The guy with the chin played Talos in Captain Marvel. Michael Caine is top tier in this film! Tom Hardy as Bane was/is amazing to me.

A lot of this movie was filmed in Pittsburgh down the street from where I was staying. I had a heart and lung transplant in 2010 and spent 18 months out there and got to see the "camp" where the actors and directors trailers were set up and at the end of the street I stayed on, one of the military bat mobile tumbler vehicles was parked. Most of the streets were closed sets so we couldn't see much but some of the materials used to make the buildings look burned are still on the buildings, or were there as of 2019/2020.

I like that the end of the movie ties together nice and neatly points from the trilogy. Rewatching Batman Begins and seeing Raz al-Ghul (Liam Nelson) talking about how he was imprisoned seems so much more impactful, Bane as a antagonist though he is so relateable and primal, a whatif batman if he'd gone too far, perhaps if he'd broken his rule about killing. The ending for Fox realizing that he hadnt failed Bruce and leaving it open to what Alfred see's being being real. Only can hope for more to come out but with how DC is going with theirs series I doubt it.

That part where Bruce comes back at the end, living that life with Selina (Catwoman) is such a twist, my guess is to how he survives is because “HE’S BATMAN!” Nah, jk, I think he just set the Bat to autopilot and escaped before it exploded. Far enough out where nobody could see him do it. Such a great moment in an awesome movie that is part of an absolutely epic trilogy!
