One of my wife's favorite songs. She would always give me this advice; I wish I would have listened to her more. Lost her three years ago to cancer. Still crushed and miss her every day.

She sang this at My Fire Dept fundraiser festival in early 2000, It was chilly and raining, fairly small crowd. The chief and I told her if she wanted to cancel because of the weather we would understand. Lee Ann replied "Are you kiddin", I came here to sing and I'm gonna go SANG!! And she nailed her whole performance!! I LUV this woman to this day!!

Ohhh….this song had to have got you in the heart. It does every time I hear it, and my kids are full grown with their own kids ❤ My son was 8 and my daughter was 1 when this came out….seems like yesterday, not 23 yrs 🥺 And now, even though they are 7 years apart, they are each others protectors and it is the best to watch 🥰

I shared my first dance with my son, when he was 7 years old, at a school dance; to this song. He is now 29 years old. I dedicated this song to him and every time he hears it he says "this is our song mama!" He and I will dance to it at his wedding! He was a challenge as a kid. However, he has grown in to the most amazing father (3 little ones), human being, man and son! God was definitely listening when I prayed that he would be okay! Thank you for doing this reaction!

I was getting ready for my wedding when this song was released. However, one person was not going to be able to attend, my grandfather. So, I went to his graveside to tell him that I was going to miss dancing with him at my wedding. When I got back in my car this was the song playing on the radio 😢❤

I was driving to work and heard this song when it was first released. I had to pull over and listen. I have two sons and this was exactly what l wanted to say to them for a life lesson. I got them a cd each and enclosed a letter telling them how much I loved them and to heed the words in this song. I now have a Grandchild due and will do the same. I couldn't have expressed myself any better . This song said it all.

My mom is and has always been my biggest cheerleader, confidant, supporter and closest person to me. I grew up in a household where she worked 80 hour weeks just to support my younger brother and me. She was still married to my now deceased dad who was addicted to drugs bc it was too expensive to get a divorce. We never did without. This song came out when I was in college at Marshall University. We went to a small concert where Leann Womack was one of the performers. Mom really wanted to go so I got tixs. I had never heard this song before as I was listening to all the late 90’s-early 00 music college kids listen to. It was close to my graduation and when Leann got ready to sing this song somehow Mom had found a way for her to say that before I play this song I want Jenna to know Mum dedicates this song to you. She is the only one who calls me Jenna and I call her Mum in loving ways. I cried. She cried. We just hugged and listened to this song. Now, I am a successful attorney with my own practice. She is married to a fabulous man but I am still her little girl. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it hadn’t been for her encouraging I dance. I’m going through chemo for breast cancer while still working and she still plays this song when taking me to all my appointments. I don’t know what I did to deserve my Mum bc lord knows I was a hellraiser but she never gave up and that makes me continue to dance.

My mom found a stuffed bear that played this song years ago (like 2009ish) and gave it to my uncle (her brother) after a disc collapsed in his back. Which required surgery and him relearning how to walk. This was after having cancer twice, after being in remission for 7 years it came back. The chemo and radiation had weakened his bones which caused the collapse. When he first heard it he stood up and walked to the kitchen to get a tissue. This was the 1st time he had stood up unassisted after surgery. Years later he ended up with another type of cancer in one of his eyes and had the eye removed. We lost him almost 1 year ago and it has been one of the hardest things to go through. While we are incredibly sad to have lost him we are also incredibly grateful for the 20 years additional years we got with him after his first diagnosis in 2000 and only being given a 5% chance of survival.

I lost my mother in 05 around the age of 21 when my oldest who is now 19 was just 1 1/2-2 yrs old, my youngest never even met her. When I graduated High School my Mom dedicated this song to me and every time I hear it it makes me bawl. Sometimes I can hold it together some and get through the song, but most times I cannot. There are a lot of songs that remind me of my Mom but this one here, holds a very special place in my heart.

This song came out during the time i was going through divorce with my kids' father and everytime it came on the radio i would say a prayer that, as they grew & got older (they were only 6y/o & 1y/o at that time), that this song would resonate in their lives; it said so much of what I wished for their lives inside the feeling of failure I was trying not to drown in. They're 30 & 25 now, and I believe they HAVE "danced" (and continue to) whenever the opportunity was there. I thank God every day for His mercy & grace poured out in our lives. This song still brings me to tears, but over the years they've become happy ones, and not the ones of failure as they used to be.

Sons of the desert was an 90's country music band who had some great hits , like Hands of Fate , Whatever Comes First, Leaving October Behind, what some people might not know is they were the original singers who did "Goodbye Earl " before The Chicks record it due to some legal problems with their labels Sons of the desert never officially released it as a single , you can find the Sons of the Desert version on KZbin.

the point is that there is GENERIC country and quality country -meaning there are songs taht stand out not JUST because of the music but because of the lyrics or the story behind them. There are songs such as Gods Country by Shelton, and In Color, Montgomery Gentry with Our Town which stand out above the rest. I'd also suggest the song Girl Crush by Little Big Town ( a beak up song related from the other side)
