Marcus King and Billy Strings play a cover of "Summertime" in a guitar shop. Musically, it's one of the finest renditions of that song... ever! Gershwin himself would likely agree :)

As someone who has grown up with real musicians and 60s and 70s etc. rock I still look for those kinds of bands. They are still out there. Right now The Warning, Dea Matrona, Ally Venable Band, Laura Cox Band, Dirty Honey, When Rivers Meet and more established hard rock bands like Rival Sons and The Answer as well as Southern Rockers like Blackberry Smoke and Whiskey Myers are keeping rock alive.

Marcus is a beast. Ive been following/seeing him for about 6 years, always kills it. This is one of his best recordings in my opinion. He made me cry playing solo acoustic in Austin. His voice ripped my heart out on Goodbye Carolina. Seen him with this big band, as a trio and solo. This is a full wall of music, everyone is killing it but just adding to the song not overdoing it

I fell in love with him a few years ago. He opened up for Chris Stapleton in Nashville. Goodbye Carolina is my absolute favorite song by him. He's an incredible talent.

9 years ago I accidentally saw the Marcus king band live in North Carolina, and I was blown away. I been following this dude ever since, and it’s awesome to see how far he’s come now. The contrast to this and to what he’s doing now is crazy, I’d say he’s dabbling more in R&B these days, but when I saw him live he was only like 18, so it’s pretty exciting to see where he’ll go.

I am a 70's child and the music was so good and it moved you and growing up in Georgia this is the music that we all loved and still do, it is a part of who we are and the new music is ok , I like a little of all types, but when it comes to people who can just throw down and jam, you can't find those in too many other then these types of talent give then a guitar somebody on drums and then who ever else that can play join in and it's a party, never heard him before but will be checking out his music, got to feel it from your head to your toes

Music after 2000 or so is so heavily processed and commercialized that its almost unrecognizable as music to us who grew up in the 60's - 80's. people are created famous by big music industry machines rather than attaining fame by being exceptional artists. Marcus would have been HUGE in the 70's...

Sir, may I suggest an amazing artist who has been basically ignored by the entire reaction community? His name is Teddy Thompson and he's one of my favorite singers. I could give you a long list of great songs that he has, but I'll go easy and just start with "Delilah", "Brink of Love", "Wake Up", "Think Again". That should be enough for now. 😊 Actually, he also did a beautiful duet with his dad, Richard Thompson, called "Persuasion". So, yeah. There's that one, too. 🤗
@VinE836563 ай бұрын
He's great. Check out Ally Venable. She's a really good blues rock guitarist, singer song writer. She's in her mid 20s and has five albums and several Billboard charting albums and her last one Real Gone was #1 Blues album for three consecutive weeks and has been charting on and off for over a year. She's played and/or toured with Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Devon Allman and others. She's also played with Marcus too if I am not mistaken as well as Samantha Fish, played on the Hendrix tribute shows and the Allman-Betts Family tour. She's a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan and SRV inspired her to play guitar. She's y favorite current Blues Rock artist right now.

My "Little Brother (68)" turned me on to Marcus, that and a recommendation from Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule / Allman Bros.) we grew up with this kind of music and saw most of the greats. It was cool how you picked up on this from that Playing For Change video. Take an evening with your wife and check out The Band's "Last Waltz" produced by Martin Scorsese. When you see who showed up to play with them, it'll blow your mind. Music Royalty top to bottom.

I sent you a donation and request for Taj Farrant. He's another young blues singer/songwriter but especially guitar phenom. I'm going to suggest again if you want to hear him really sing and play check out his performance of The Sky is Crying in Tulsa or him playing his favorite song of his favorite performer Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways in Nashville at City Winery. Taj recently was the guest performer at the 40th anniversary celebration for Prince's Purple Rain release. He performed at the State Theater opening for Morris Day and Prince's band NPG. His performance of Prince's The Ride at the State Theater is incredible and he also played Purple Rain with NPG. He also had the privilege of playing at Paisley Park and was able to record at Prince's studio and listen to some of Prince's unreleased music in the vault. Taj's first album is being released on August 28th. He's had 6 singles from it chart at #1 on the iTunes blues charts. Taj turned 15 in May. He started playing guitar at 7 and is a phenom. He has appeared with Santana, Rob Thomas, Orianthi, Eric Gales, Christone Kingfish Ingram and most recently with Buddy Guy.
