No not a girl dad, however grew up with 3 sisters and a mom, only male so I sorta know what it’s like being the only male, however I didn’t grow up with 3 perfectionist ( Angelina, mom Sara, and grandma Mery) there’s so much going on in this video first Angelina said grandma and mom did the set, cousins and little sister in the video grandma produced, Mery never misses a chance to film her grandchildren. But then you have black leather outfit, Priscilla hair, red guitar, when lounging in chair blue suede boots and classic Elvis with the guitar neck pointing down and only a few strums. Angelina’s voice is continuing to grow most people don’t understand she’s only 16, and still has another 10 or fifteen years before it’s fully developed. Anyway I’m sure you understand that an education out ways fame and her team is doing a stellar job by holding her back not that she’s known worldwide now.

What is amazing to me, is how she brings out the story of the song. No matter what she sings, when she is done, you know the story, you know what the writer had to say. So often the storing behind the song gets lost in the pomp and circumstance of the performance, with Angelina you get the story. Many of the songs she has covered I have just thought "Wow, that is what they were saying". This is one of them. I didn't get this from the Elvis version. I get it, get it big-time in the Angelina version.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

This video was a family affair, with her Grandmother Mery Zamani as Ex-Producer, her Uncle Mike's two daughters, and her sister Juliette as the young girl growing up. The symbolism from the dust flying off the piano representing the past, Elvis's Black jumpsuit, and the red guitar he played during his come-back tour in1968 to Priscilla Presley's hairdo was pure genius in storytelling. Most of all, Angelina sang in a deeper mature voice, drawing you into "Suspicious Minds," told through Priscilla's perspective during their troubled marriage, slowing down the song's tempo and allowing the lyrics to tell the story. Angelina Jordan has developed her style of singing that sets the mood of all her songs. She is a pure Artist!

The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along). I paste below the order in which Angelina sung the verses. "Suspicious minds" Angelina Jordan - lyrics rearranged. This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. Everyone's emotional reaction to the first image of the baby shows how strong the emotional bonds to family are. Why would she be representing herself in this song? @@nyima04011 Thanks Deborah. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on U-Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. .♥👣👸🏻

Angelina's voice has an intensity to it that doesn't derive from pitch, or volume, or even power but is from a more subtle (but no less impacting) source, an emotional connection (some say Duende ). You should react to The Warning, rock band. 3 sisters from Monterrey Mexico. When I want to be in touch with my feels and just need to feel something i listen to Angelina. When I need energy for long drive or need to scratch that itch for adrenalin I listen to The Warning. They write their own songs and have 4 albums. 3 of them self published through Patreon where fans supported each launch. Their latest was finally a record deal that they signed with Lava Records that allows them to BE them. They are some of the sweetest and smartest young ladies you will ever meet. Their cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman When Dany was 14, Pau was 12 and Ale was 9 or 10 has millions of views. It also got them to be able to do a creative cover of Enter Sandman on the BlackList Album and it was the title track. They collaborated with Alicia Caro (I think I spelt that wrong but you can find the cover on their channel). They are amazing connecting with their fans. They did free streaming concerts from The Warning Cave, their own home studio in their basement, during the COVID lock down when their North American Tour got canceled. They do Dany Day, Pau Day, and Ale Day live on Instagram to stay in touch with fans especially during the lockdowns. They were also streaming on Twitch playing Switch games with fans and each other. Dany is the lead vocalist and guitarist she is a ball of energy and absolutely adorable. She is also the oldest. Pau is the badass Drummer and technical genius that produces the live show from her laptop. She is the middle child. Ale is the tall beautiful and one amazing basest. Pau sings lead vocals on a number of songs while still playing the drums. Ale has recently started singing lead vocals on a few of the older songs as she has really started coming into her own and breaking out of her shell. The whole group is awesome. I saw them live here in Dallas last year and it was amazing. The Warning Army is just as committed as the Angelina Angles are. Queen of the Murder Scene is one of the best Albums I've ever heard bar none. It's a rock opera and every song is the next chapter of a girl losing her sanity for love of a guy. She falls into madness. They wrote it when Dany was 16, Pau was 14, and Ale was 12 I believe. Pau starts a lot of their songs and then Dany and Ale helps finish them.

My best friend is a father to girls, well young women now. He has such a close relationship with them. He has encouraged them academically but also to travel and experience life. He had all brothers. Thanks for another great reaction to another masterful reinterpretation & performance by Angelina - this time of a well known Elvis hit. Definitely a family production - the Executive Producer Mery Zamani is Angelina's grandmother, the 2 smaller girls are her cousins & the older girl is Angelina's younger sister Juliette. Also it's a great tribute to Elvis - Angelina's beehive hairdo is reminiscent of Priscilla Presley & her black jumpsuit & red guitar are the same as in the Elvis comeback tour. She is indeed a wonderful person with her barefoot performing to raise awareness for poor kids the most visible part. Have you watched her recent concerts: she is so sweet and wonderful there as well: kzbin.info/aero/PLgVH9DUPH5QorN0ofzcbOYQSXXlDzyfA9 She plays the piano, guitar, violin and flute. I have not seen the last two though. The Elvis movie is beautiful and sad as well: like in this song Elvis was caught in a trap he could not get out. In contrast his version of this song is pretty upbeat and though amazing and masterful showmanship, somehow he does not really seem distraught to be caught in a trap he cannot get out. The story is sad with love being destroyed by distrust. With Angelina I fully feel this sadness. She is so good at story telling and conveying emotions. The little girls are her cousins and the bigger girl her younger sister. They give me the image of Angelina growing up wearing white dresses like Angelina wore. I have two daughters and one son. I love them all to pieces :-)

everything about this video, well almost everything, is a tribute to Elvis. her black leather, the red guitar, the man at the piano wearing the burgundy suit, and of course her beehive do is a tribute to Priscilla when they first got together. the song is not a cover song as much as it is an UNcover song. the original version was too fast if you ask me. Angelinas version is pure beauty, elegance and purity !!!

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂

That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. @Sebs Duran I may get this a little wrong, but I know she plays four instruments. Where I may be wrong is which ones, and I believe them to be: piano, guitar, violin and flute. In addition, I understand she speaks four languages, maybe more now, she paints and she is the youngest published writer in Norway history, to date. She truly is amazing, aside from her incredible vocal ability.
