I think there is an element of getting their shots in while they can. They know in the past 75 years, there has only been a handful of seasons where you could talk big trash on us, without sounding like a fool. If they don't do this now, they might never get a chance again.

McElroy is a Texas guy who went to Bama. He has always hated OU. He was a solid QB with tons of talent around him. He wouldn’t have started at OU or UT during his time in college. He got to be part of a title team. Good for him. But I’ve never taken any of his opinions seriously. Quit worrying about talking heads. OU has their best roster in years. Just go win games.
