SEC Propaganda Machine Coming After BYU and the Big 12

Since 2000, BYU is 5-5 vs tea SEC. Only 3 of those games were played in Provo...this doesn't include the canceled return trips from Alabama after BYU played to within 7 at Tuscaloosa and Tennessee who cancelled the return after BYY beat them in Knoxville...My opinion? SEC teams should be docked for not playing away games further than 200 miles and not be given credit for more than 6 home games..

The SEC loves to move the goal posts. They talk out of both sides of their mouth, in order to prove how good they are. They only play 8 conference games because their conference is sooo superior, but will schedule 4 home games against the sisters of the poor in order to ensure they win as many games as possible to make their record look good. They never travel west. Win total or strength of schedule, they will use either argument depending on which best suits their needs. I hope they have to play 2 cold weather road games in December as part of the playoffs.

I'm sick of hearing people say that BYU doesn't deserve to be where they are because they haven't played anyone and they haven't been "BLOWING" teams away and"barely " beating teams. I'd just like to remind everyone that BYU was picked to 13th place out of 16 and win 4.5 games...and yet so far they are 9-0. So they were never supposed to be in this situation in the 1st place. So I couldn't care less if they won ALL their games by 1 point. A 1 point win is a win. Period. They were never picked to dominate.Ever. So they are better than expected fine. The CFP has two members who have BigXII ties, two with AVC ties, and three with G5 ties. That is 7 of 13 members. Why are these seven capitulating to the SEC and BIG10? That is the question...there should be a full on media blitz asking that question...

28:44 BYU can only play the teams on their schedule. BYU played a SEC team last year and beat them on the road. It was one of BYU’s 5 wins. Arkansas was not a great team last year, but either was BYU. BYU beat Tennessee on the road in 2019 and beat Arizona, Arizona State, Utah & USC in 2021. Only Arkansas & Tennessee are from the SEC, but USC is now a Big10 team (and Utah thinks they are Big10 material 🙂) and BYU beat Utah this year. Talk is cheap, play must be proven on the field where games are won or lost.

I get so sick of these Big Ten and SEC teams saying what they would do to a team like BYU. Oh really? Really? What would you do? How about schedule them on a Home and Home series and prove it? But you won’t. It’s out of your time zone. It’s at elevation and probably at night and you’re afraid to get beat. Current Big 12 teams have combined to win 2 natties over the last 50 years. The last one was over and 30 years ago. The P2 are top heavy while the Big 12 is bottom heavy.

For KState to have at-large potential, it’s all John mentioned + Houston must also win out - or at least finish 6-6. But if the Coogs could finish 3-0 to get to 7-5*, that road loss will have aged exceptionally well for how bad it looked at the time. (*As a Baylor fan, I’d much prefer 6-6.) Edit: uh-oh. Houston plays in Provo in the last reg szn game. I foresee them as 5-6 and need to beat BYU to get bowl eligible. It would be so Big12 for the Coogs to beat the Cougs.

A part of me thinks that we should just move to a different 10 team playoff. Only conference champions. Cuts the subjectivity and makes the regular season matter the most. It’s kinda crazy that you can lose your conference but still win the national title. But that will never happen because $$$

@@rubenzendejas8759 that logic doesnt follow. How do you ensure each conference strength is fairly equal? ELO ranking is based upon the ranking of the opponent. Losing 3x to a higher ranked team by small margin compared to a single loss to a lower ranked team is significantly different in deducted points. The problem with American football is the fractured system, yearly team shuffling, injuries and never play enough games to get get a good sample size for accuracy. The playoffs are too few games to reduce a lucky run by an outsider.

I agree that the Buffs are playing very well right now, and look like the best team. I think the pressure was huge on BYU going into the Holy War, and it nearly broke the Cougars. We will see if that game was the crescendo or not when it comes to the weight of new expectations. I look forward to seeing if the Cougars will play free and easy against Kansas, or will the pressure continue to build? Kansas embarrassed BYU last year, and the players are looking to redeem themselves on Saturday.

The hate on BYU has little to do with the conference and everything to do with the religion. Back in the day, sports brains like Bryant Gumble downplayed BYU and the National Championship, not because they were undefeated and beat everyone they played but because the LDS Church was perceived to be prejudiced. I love my Mountaineers unconditionally!! I will never root for them to lose, no matter what the situation! But I do worry that if BYU loses a game before the Big XII championship game, and even though it's extremely far fetched at this point, and highly unlikely because of how good the teams are playing ahead of them, IF the football gods deem it necessary to allow the Mighty Mountaineers to run the table and find itself in, and winning the Big XII championship, they will knock the Big XII outa the playoff all together, which would obviously not be good for the conference and its members... Because for WVU to make it to the game I believe Colorado, K-State, and Iowa State would have to lose another game or two... I guess you could put BYU in that mix if they lose a couple games... The only way I think the Big XII could make it if WVU won the championship is that BYU would have to go undefeated in the regular season, and their only loss being against WVU in the championship game. They should still be in the top 12 with a 12-1 record no matter what imo! I love the Big XII conference, and want it to be the best conference and win nattys, but I have no choice but to root for WVU to win the championship... All this crying about scheduling without allowing non SEC / Big 10 schools a shot at tye top teams in those conferences is hogwash. Here's how to solve this - start the season with conference play (allow pre-season FCS games) and use last 3 weeks of season as open to schedule interconference matchups that are slotted as pre-playoff games designated by Playoff Committee. In this model, we actually get the games we are theorizing. Who says no to this? Before you say "it's too hard and can't be done. BYU olayed at Coastal Carolina in 2020, and that game was put together in a single week. It can be done.

I have been following/attending LSU/SEC games for many decades. This season the SEC has more good teams than I have ever seen. I have watched three BYU games in full. BYU is not particularly strong team. They are undefeated because they are better than the teams in their conference. At 13-0 or even 12-1, they will be in the CFP, BUT they won't be a national champion and neither will any Big12 team for the foreseeable future. That's just how I see it.

Hmm. . . let's answer some of those questions. FACTS: Last time BYU played Ole Miss (on the road), they won. Last time BYU played Tennessee (on the road), they won. Tennessee chickened out and wouldn't play the return game in Provo. Last time BYU played Mississippi State (at home), they won. BYU has never played Florida or South Carolina. Probably not because BYU isn't willing. Last time BYU played Texas A&M (at home), they won. In last year's down 5-7 season, BYU lost to Texas and dropped to 5-2 all-time against them (five of those games were in Austin, two in Provo). Last time BYU played Alabama, they lost 38-31 (on the road). Alabama chickened out and wouldn't play the return game in Provo. Last time BYU played Georgia, they lost 17-14 (on the road). Georgia chickened out and wouldn't play the return game in Provo. The SEC loves to run its mouth about how great it is, but look at the facts. And for heaven's sake, be willing to travel more than a couple of hours for a non-conference game. Wimps!
