SEC Shorts - Teams bid date auction style to play Vanderbilt

Now that the SEC has officially announced a conference only 10 game schedule for the 2020 football season, all SEC teams are left wondering who their additional two conference games will be. For teams in the SEC West, there's only one team out there that everyone wants a piece of; Vanderbilt. The conference rolls out Vanderbilt to the stage and holds a date auction for teams to bid on who gets the honor and most likely easy win after playing Vandy.

When this was made public a few days ago, all I could think was "Omg, Texas A&M just can't get a break!" I'm a die hard Bammer, but I do feel sorry for the A&M fanbase. Especially after seeing yalls schedule to start last season. You guys deserve a break. I predicted A&M would have 1 loss this season, and that would be @ Alabama. That was going to be the game of the year in the west,and it still could be. Mabe you guys will get lucky and have the tougher east opp at home. I’m seriously devastated about not getting to play South Carolina this year. It’s not about us not getting to blow them out, it’s the fact that this game means a ton to both fanbases. Clemson good, Clemson bad, South Carolina good, South Carolina bad, it doesn’t matter. The two teams have met yearly without missing a beat for over 100 years. A Clemson football season isn’t complete without playing Carolina. I’m sure many Carolina fans will agree with me. Makes no sense why South Carolina can travel to places like Missouri and Kentucky but not a couple hours away to Clemson, SC.

Yeah, blame the fact that y'all aren't in the same conference as South Carolina. Like Clemson, GT, Louisville, and Florida State won't be able to play Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida despite being in the same state with their respective rival. I feel like the SEC could've at least allowed each team to schedule one non conference team, if possible, that share the same state as them, then that would've fixed everything

Angela Holcomb I mean even during that losing streak Dabo was putting together 10+ win seasons. He had already proven to be a winning coach. Will Muschamp flat out can’t win and hasn’t been able to anywhere he’s been (as a head coach). He set Florida’s program back about 10 years. The comparison is a little different.

Miller Montage All jokes aside, I really am very sorry we won’t get to play this year. In a weird way I feel a kind of comradery with FSU fans because this game has been taken from all of us. It’s the game I look forward to the most every year, the one with the highest stakes for me, the one I’m most emotionally invested in. Even if I know we’ll probably win or I know we’ll probably lose. FSU is the only rival I really despise. Tennessee is just pitiful, Georgia just doesn’t feel like a rivalry and I have no hate for them, and LSU should be a good rivalry but the fans aren’t behind it. The FSU game is really half the fun in the season for me and I hate that it won’t be a part of this one. I know a lot of FSU fans probably feel the same and I feel for them. Weirdly.

From what I read it is not the issue of distance but the way that each conference has different protocols in place or perhaps lack of protocols. Since the protocols aren't the same across each conference that is the reason for all of the conference only schedules.
