YES, I watched that interview a week before nomination, and it was excellent. As a female, I totally agree, with Pete, regarding women serving in the more aggressive outfits. But as he pointed out, we could have an all women Seal Team, or Ranger group. I say if women good enough to pass the dumbed down tests, should be good enough to make a whole Team, rather than put them with men's team, where the women couldn't carry an injured team mate, can't run as fast, can't carry as much. But make a team of all women. So all equal as team mates, not being baby sitted. Give them a mission, yes maybe has to be a vigorous one. Pete also noted Women pilots are great, fight individually in plane with one other, can fly equal to man. Plus housing usually at base or post. Not a tent, so privacy issues not a deal... I think Pete is a Colonel.

What about empty ATF offices?
@kennethhill46232 ай бұрын
Congress is needed to get rid of ATF. That's still a big ask because of RINOs. If Brandon was head of ATF, he could authorize 90 day machingun amnesty periods until machineguns are in common use. He could also raise the muffling threshhold for a device to be considered a silencer to a Db rating so high that no current supressor could be classified as needing to be regulated, which would effectively neuter the NFA clauses. He could also change SBR rules to say, not recognize a weapon as an SBR if it has a foldable or retractable stock and only recognize it as a rifle if it has a fixed solid one piece stock. There are so many ways he could creatively interpret the NFA to neuter the regulatory power and make the criteria for tax stamps super specific instead of broad. If he did this for 4 years, it would basically leave Congress with no reason not to abolish the ATF because it'd be so ineffectual and many of the things it regulated would be in common use. Appointing him as director is basically making him the demolition man. After its all said and done the firearm forensics and weapons tracing resources should just be folded into an existing federal law enforcement branch and the bureaucratic control freaks can go be accountants or something.

Mike I was a Soldier in a combat brigade. I retired with 32 years as the Brigade CSM. There is no such thing as one weekend a month in a combat Brigade. My total time on orders was 15 years.
@dacr89282 ай бұрын
Yea, there is always shock on the new guys faces when they show up and they realize its 4-8 days a month plus schools and usually 21-28 days for AT, MOB includes multiple rotations through NTC etc. Especially if your Brigade and Company are the "tip of the spear". You might as well just get on ADOS and make it a career because you'll be there damn near full time anyway.
@JP-ec9rl2 ай бұрын
Active duty is an isolated echo chamber that accepts many misconceptions as gospel. I saw a lot of hard chargers come from both the Marines and regular Army, into the reserves over the years and they usually talk a lot of shit at first until they realize that they aren't really better soldiers just because someone pumped sunshine up their asses. They quickly come to realize that holding down a civilian career, keeping the bills paid and still being a competent soldier, takes more versatility and self discipline, rather than less.
@chato123772 ай бұрын
Thank you for your service CSM.
@jeremymarlin1850Ай бұрын
@@JP-ec9rlExactly. Even for things like PT. I was active duty and then transferred to the RC after a decade or so break in service. It takes much more discipline to stay in shape when you have real life responsibilities outside of the military. Of course there were full timers in the unit that were there all the time and were the continuity and supervision of the unit. They could work out on government time,attend career progression activities and schools etc... Us weekend warriors had to figure it out on our own and many weren't even near a base to access facilities. We were still expected to attend all the same schools and achieve the same level of proficiency as our full time counterparts. The difference was that we had to put our civilian lives on hold to do it. In reality I believe that some of the best troops are in the RC. They are generally older,more mature and have figured out how to meet and beat the standards all while managing all the outside commitments. There were many people who would work their civilian jobs at night and be on orders and doing their military job during the day . Just think about the guys that are pilots, firefighters,cops, doctors , paramedics, whatever and the depth of real life experience that they bring to the table.

About a century from now, books will be written and historians will point out what a shame it was that so many well intentioned and patriotic Americans spent their time and energy on the topics the media spoon fed them and simultaneously ignored all the obvious evidence that their country had been occupied and controlled by a small group with allegiance to a tiny foreign nation. It really is like arguing about a band aid while the patient is suffering metastatic cancer.

Just clarify, I have spent a very long time in ARNG as an Infantryman. There are many Infantry officers within the Guard without a Ranger tab. The main reason is funding. Many states do not want to keep their Officers on AD any longer than necessary to gain their qualifications at Ft Benning/Moore. And the other reality is…not everyone completes Ranger School. Not a knock on anyone who didn’t, it’s just a reality
@BeyondThe-b3v2 ай бұрын
Let’s be real, the Ranger tab is cool however it doesn’t make them anymore lethal at all… I know because I have one lol
@austinhall43612 ай бұрын
Also the sad reality is that states’ National guards get the bottom of the barrel when it comes to schools funding. Usually we are so tight on a schools budget for a year we usually don’t get to send our soldiers to the high speed schools unless there is a direct MTOE ASI that we can justify “big army” giving us the authorization to send an attendee to said school.
@stevenschmitt-yc3niАй бұрын
@@BeyondThe-b3v yes but it’s pretty much a rite of passage, that all infantry officers have a ranger tab (especially in regular army) not so much in NG
