Second Bee Castle Check Up

Beekeeper Richard Kuhn checks on a second Bee Castle beehive he's managing at the Earth Works garden center in Jacksonville, Florida. This new one was taken over from a friend and had some hive beetles that Richard is working to rid the hive of. Left unmanaged hive beetles can ruin a hive, but Richard has experience rehabilitating hives with minor hive infestations.

@@EarthWorksJax I would love to see a video on moving little palms to another area . We have around 100 palms (Palmetto ) on our business property . Every year they make seeds and fall . Next year they pop up and the ground crew shows up and kills most of them with weed eaters and rakes . I'm no tree huger by far but would be nice to know how to properly dig them up and move them to a new home . We have some that are about 6 years old and have a huge root system but a nub on top and still growing . If they can take that muck abuse and still grow . I can at least ask . I think the more you all teach the more people trust you . Anything is better than some one that is half drunk telling you how to do this on KZbin. Thanks !!

@@sanitymaintenance1585 apologies for the delayed response to your thoughtful message! We consider how to put that seed starting video together, but of course, with your example, you are showing one tried and true method that works as once they get an established root system they can be cut down near the ground and continue to put out fronds where proper soil, light, and water conditions exist. We experience the same cutting them down in beds for years and then transplant when there is a need for one that large.
