Glad to see, that the re-grind solved the edge problem. This invalidates my assumption from some days ago, that the heat treatment might be bad. Realy interesting to see, what optimizing the geometry can do for a blade! Thanks for the follow up!

I think it might be a little bit of both: sometimes manufacturers make a decent heath treatment but in final grinding they burn the thinner parts of the edge due to insufficient cooling. Then the edge often will roll with the softer steel or chip harder steels. You can then solve this issue by sharpening the blade multiple times or just put a duller angle on there - which removes more metall from the apex than resharping in the same angle once. I have seen this multiple times on 2 Moras with the 12C27 steel(chipping), one condor in 1075(mostly rolling) and a bark river in elmax(chipping) and was able to fix these three knives by removing the apex, reprofiling the blade to the same angle again and then sharpening. I haven't had problems with these knives ever since. I did not come to this conclusion myself, that was something cliff stamp brought me to.

Not for nothing, but the Desert Romper is on sale at Amazon for $57. Same knife just with micarta handles and a tan blade.

Do you use the electric or the manual handheld Worksharp? And I try not to baton with my knives ever since I learned a trick. Thanks
