My biggest issue with the CDC Booster recommendation is definitely the fact that endorsement = mandate, like you said. Major major problem.
@dalesplitstone62763 жыл бұрын
Really? My biggest problem is they are recommending that the same vaccine be used for the booster as was used in the original vaccination. If a person got an mRNA vaccine initially, the booster should be either an adenovirus vector vaccine, like AstraZeneca or Sputnik V, or an inactivated virus vaccine, such as Sinovac or Sinopharm. Mandates are a problem, but since the mandates are justified on the basis of spreading infection, it makes no sense to have mandated vaccination without mandated boosters when the efficacy of Pfizer against infection drops to 15% after six months.
@the_nerdy_np3 жыл бұрын
@@dalesplitstone6276 yes, that’s my biggest concern because the idea of zero spread is not obtainable. The technology behind the boosters is certainly questionable and I think it would behoove everyone if they’d just pump the breaks for a second and look at quality over quantity, but in the interim - they’re forcing people to get vaccines that aren’t optimal or even necessary.

What about the dosing? 10 micrograms vs. 30 micrograms dosing. A children's hospital in Cleveland/Cincinnati reported a study in which 10 micrograms had a very good antibody response in 18-55 year olds, but not in people 65 and up, they had a good response to 30 micrograms; therefore we all got the 30. Are people being overdosed? Is this why we are seeing myocarditis in young men and teens?
@therrydicule3 жыл бұрын
@@joshuacornelius25 I skimmed through that study. You're not wrong at all (the vaccine are safe), albeit it is also somehow a legitimate question given that study. It was specific to the Pfizer vaccine and I think it was a kind of follow up regarding the vaccine for less than 12 years old. Turns out that for many person (less than 65 but more than 12, without arthritis or many other conditions) a 10 micrograms would have a significant effect on the antibodies but maybe not sufficient. There's a balance act, and it's a good question to ask if we got the balance act correctly. Still, we are not "overdosing" on vaccines. We just have a bit of an extra dose and a bit of a stronger immunity. Having too large a dose, compared to what is prescribed, happens more often than we like to think with some hepatitis vaccine: like 1 ml instead of 0.5 ml, and it's usually not that bad. They just take a note in the medical records, and someone might feel a bit worst than needed. However, where that news is very good is with some people with some forms of arthritis or some conditions that are atypical who aren't able to get the full 30 micrograms. Ok so we might be able to use 3 or 4 children vaccine dose instead, spaced it out correctly. There been only one case, as far I been able to find, of an "overdose." I'll simplify the story a bit: It was in Ontario, some 95 years old woman with Alzheimer's diseases kind of showed up twice in two day to get her second dose, and because of a combination of errors she been vaccinated both times and she been incapacitated for weeks. That was a disaster, and I feel bad for her family and friends. But it's also a freak accident, and everything that could have gone wrong did in her case.

Last thing I heard about hydroxychloroquine is that is does block a entry pathway of the virus, but the one it blocks is not the primary entry way because it turns out, unlike the test cells, most ACE2 receptor having cells also have some other enzyme (TEMPEST I think, don't quote me on that) which allows for direct entry through the cell membrane. This skips the lysosome (or whichever is the name of the organelle formed from eating things, not the waste one) which is where hydroxychloroquine has an effect. So the most nitty-gritty statement is "hydroxychloroquine would work if the darn virus didn't have a better entry pathway that it favors over the one that hydroxychloroquine actually does anything about".

I like listening to you a lot, and usually agree. However, please don't lightly dismiss the tinnitus sufferers. It happened to me and it is not something I was looking for; I didn't expect anything but a sore arm after the first Moderna dose. Got pretty loud tinnitus and I know I am not alone in this experience, and no, obecalp won't help. It's real. And after 6 months it has not gone away. (I did not get the second shot, it was so severe).

I emailed Z about this just last week and while I got an amazingly thoughtful response which was a fantastic, and caring thing, I had the same reaction Terri! I was embarrassed that we heard a discussion of obecalp here and that disappointed me a good deal. I will never get another dose after the level my tinnitus is. I guess, good for them (Z and Mcfly) they don’t have it. At first I was excited to see Z bring it up and then felt like I got punched in the gut.

Interesting stuff, thank you! Here in Canada we came late to the vaccine party due to no domestic production, and interval between doses was up to 3 months apart to allow more people to be immunized. Although we have definitely been experiencing a delta spike, it's not nearly as high as the US and some other places. I'm thinking from what you say, the spacing may have saved many lives here. I am in the Moderna club like you, my doses 8 1/2 weeks apart, so I'm feeling pretty safe according to the way this video explains things!

It is not fair to say tinnitus after the vaccine is psychological. Someone who I know who had it was v excited to get the vaccine and they had absolutely no worries that they would get a side effect, and they had no idea tinnitus was a largely reported side effect. He’s had it very loud for 6+ months, to the point of giving him anxiety because he didn’t know something like that existed. He thankfully is much better now. There are groups with thousands of people who now have debilitating tinnitus. I used to suffer badly from it my whole life so I understand it can be very disconcerting. When one of your senses isn’t working properly - long term- it is very debilitating, scary and enough to cause panic because u can’t function properly. It’s one of ur senses so it’s always there and very hard to ingore if it is very loud

Thank you for this. I’m quite disturbed by the reporting system, VAERS. I worked in the medical device industry where ANY adverse reaction to a device or pharmaceutical MUST be reported via the MEDWATCH system to the FDA, even if it is unrelated, like infection. I really don’t understand why vaccines don’t have the same stringency. I find it absolutely mind boggling. For instance, I have a friend who had an adverse reaction immediately after getting the vax. The problem continues now several weeks later, however the doctors are not reporting it saying they can’t be sure it was the vax. This is complete BS! Legally this needs to be reported regardless of what the doctor thinks…but what can we lay people do about it? The data regarding adverse reactions is completely skewed because of this under reporting.

This is so important. I took my neighbor to the ER the day after his second dose with a blood clot and told him (I couldn't go in) to explain that he had just been vaccinated. They told him they were sure it was unrelated. In March! When he was essentially participating in a clinical trial! And we now know that blood clots are related. To make things worse, there are record numbers of adverse events in VAERS, despite the under-reporting.

@@truth_vs_fact except that it didn't lead to getting ahead of the virus, or any virus! GoF didn't lead to faster vaccines, better faster sequencing did, which doesn't require GoF. And the problem with GoF is that there is NO WAY to try to predict,via genetic engineering of viruses in the lab, what new virus nature is actually going to throw at us. The lab in China genetically altered a lot of different coronaviruses over the past several years, none of that led to helping us in this pandemic, and it damn sure didn't predict what nature would throw at us next, only what we would have thrown at us by playing with nature when we shouldnt. Now we are stuck with their results, and no better therapeutics, faster vaccines, or better ability to control the mess that was made.

(Their dad and I already got our shots months ago, we are not anti vax.) Knowing other places had much better efficacy and fewer side effects with greater spacing gives us a clearer picture of how to safely vaccinate our kids. My memory is the Bangladesh study showed 9% efficacy for cloth and 11% for surgical. So given the downsides (community wide hostility, financial cost to families, environmental cost with masks all over the streets/grounds) why would they be supported?
