There is nothing like a new bike! I had a pretty good ride in Oklahoma despite some painful blisters.

Fantastic video as always! I'd love to see a more in depth video on pros and cons of suspension setup. I recently got a new bike and being on the lighter side, I find factory sag to be too stiff. But it's hard understanding the pros and cons of more or less sag, faster or slower rebound and more or less compression in real situations. Loved your review vids as you make it a lot easier to understand pros and cons, would love to understand your perspective!

Thanks! For the most part, I think people over think suspension setup a bit. Not saying you are in this case, but just in general. The stock settings are really good and will work well enough for most people, even with a pretty large weight range. There are different springs that can be used if you are way off of the target weight. I did a quick video on my suspension a few years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmGsp4ljn7-Mn5I and here is what Ryan Young had to say: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJOvnaeChqiWg8U But I will keep that idea mind in case I ever do a more in depth video on what different adjustments do.

Never mind the awesome bike -awesome riding! Great video too. Glad it came up on my feed. Good to see all the attempts that didn’t work out, and get a glimpse of the saves/bailouts. I’m about to get my first trial bike. Stepping off the thing will surely happen a lot. Knowing how to do it properly (and safely) must be a core skill that doesn’t get shown much. Not that I’ve seen anyway.

I think there is only one thing stopping you becoming as good as the Spaniards: you are not in Spain. The reason is that you are the best trials rider in your surroundings, which means you miss the push-pull competition and learning your EU counterparts enjoy. I would love to see you ride in WC and X-Trials as a regular!
@PatSmage
@PatSmage 2 жыл бұрын
I agree that the only way to be as good as the euros is to join them by living there and riding with them, and at a young age. I was actually very close to moving over there at 17 but it didn't work out. I tried going back and forth after that and that was not the way to do it, so I could never get on their level. Hopefully another American can make it happen soon!

@@PatSmage Well... there is indeed an other way: popularize the sport in the US and grow US talents. Hard enduro is also getting popular, and there is nothing better than trials to start that!

Awesome video! If i'm not mistaken, Sherco went to a higher 2nd gear ratio, and back to a 44T rear sprocket for 2022, what are your thoughts on the new gearing set up?
@PatSmage
@PatSmage 2 жыл бұрын
Mine came with a 42t still, but it has new sprocket bolts! No more torx there. It does feel like second is a bit higher, but I didn't ride it back to back with the 21 so it's hard to tell exactly how much. Riding enduro between bikes threw me off a bit, haha. A higher second can be better for some things and worse for others and it depends on riding style also. I think it is more about just getting used to it and knowing when to and not to use it.

Nice riding as always bro. I have the 2019 25th anniversary model 😎 but I get some pinging after a few hours use. Have you or anyone you know played with the squish clearances? I run 98 octane fuel at 2%. Cheers bro 👊🏻
@PatSmage
@PatSmage 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have not had to check squish on any of my bikes. There should be a manual with specs online. 2% meaning 50:1? Most people run 80:1 or even 100:1. So I would try that although that would make it rich and blubber not ping. Could also be jetting, needle, idle, or air screw settings as well. Maybe if the carb is set to run decent with 50:1 then something is off there?
@SteveGouldChewy
@SteveGouldChewy 2 жыл бұрын
@@PatSmage thx Pat. Yes 50:1 is what I run. If people are running a leaner mix that might prolong the time it takes for the head to carbon up, which may help. It was fine from new but started to develop the pinging from about 10 hours. Carb seems fine. It runs nice. I’ll have a go at the squish and drop you the results by reply. Thx for the vids bro. 👊🏻

I see you had a 2018 also. Theres a 22 st250 at my local dealer and a used really low hour 18 st300. Are they similar between those 2 specific years? I believe 18 is when they upgraded the suspension?? Would it be jus a 250/300 power difference deciding factor or are there some nice updates on the 22 that makes it a clearly better choice?
@PatSmage
@PatSmage 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed this earlier. The 18 is a great bike as well, especially the factory model. The factory suspension is big improvement over the racing model, and I believe the clutch was different between them in '18 also. There have been some small improvements since then but they are really similar for the most part. You can't go wrong with either! A 250 is enough, and probably better, for most people but I don't have enough time on one to give a fair comparison.
