Second Year Student Nurse: What's in my bag for university | school | work | placement?? This is part of the 30 day blogger challenge: day 9 whats in my bag?? This was a fun video to do actually, I really enjoyed this, as disgusting as it was.... you'll see why... haha!
Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe and like. Check out my previous vlogs all about student nurse life :-)
* I am a second year adult student nurse at Birmingham City University. * I am very passionate about nursing and want to bring that passion back into the hearts of everyone.
* I am also a healthcare assistant in sexual health and family planning, where I have worked for the past 4 years. I absolutely love it!
* Before sexual health I worked in care home for the elderly, orthopaedic theatres and I have done some bank shifts on the wards at the QE Hospital Birmingham too. Overall around 10 years healthcare experience.

I can really relate to the Monika Cupboard; I have multiple bags 💼 which I can everything and my wardrobe is filled with of stuff, which I keep pilling up and never use. 😂 I love your Peter Pan/Peter Rabbit 🐇 bag! I absolutely love this. Enjoying your videos as always, Claire. 🙂🦋✨

Hemp cream and taking bloods as a student nurse, please can you elaborate more? As in your opinion about hemp, and can a ST/N take bloods?

joseph difc Hemp cream I got from the body shop. It’s a really good hand cream for dry skin (my opinion - other creams are great too!). As a student nurse I can’t take bloods at the minute. However the NMC has changed and students are now being trained to take bloods. I take bloods as a healthcare assistant for my job though :)

@@ClaireCarmichael That is correct the NMC has expanded the standards skills for future nurses, and taking bloods is one of them. I am sorry, and kindly do not take my curiosity as an insult, however you have mentioned in the video about the tourniquet, hence my question. I am certain creams are great, however I was interested in your opinion of hemp being used cream. Considering the stigma around hemp. Thank you for your reply, exemplary nurse you shall be and great stn you are.

joseph difc I always carry a tourniquet in my bag :) you never know when you might need it out and about haha! I’m always prepared for every eventuality. But I do take bloods. I was trained 5.5 years ago to do them as a healthcare assistant. This is the hemp cream: www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/hands/moisturisers/hemp-hand-protector/p/p000461 it’s not illegal. 😂

@@ClaireCarmichael Fantastic stuff! I presume during your shift, you keep it in your pocket, or do you work with your bag on you. That would be very painful and could hurt your back, take great caution. There should be one-time use tourniquet, well in ED they are and in theaters. Are you able to cannulate as well ? of course as HCA, and how did it advantage you, to have this skills as stn? I am really not interested in cream, but thank you for recommending. Al thought you still have not answered my question to my initial inquiry to the stigma, that is if you would like to answer. Thank you again for the reply.

joseph difc hahaha! Noooo I don’t have my bag on me 😂 that stays in the staff room. I keep it in my bag though and use it on my breaks. I’ve swapped to a different hand cream now mind you :) purely because this one was a little bit greasy. I’ve got a coconut hand scrub too which is amazing to use! 😍 but they stay in my bag for break times. I haven’t heard any stigma around this hand cream? Which stigma are you talking about? 🤔 We have single use tourniquets where I work now as well. This one I have I clean down after I use it :) and being able to do bloods will help me when I qualify as I already have the skill and won’t need to be trained as much as someone who doesn’t already have this skill.
