Nice to see in this video that all the dermatitis she had around her nose/eyes has healed up. She's looking very healthy and you've brought her along well.

There seems to be something about tri-colored Paints and mud puddles~lol! We own rescue horses and the Paint gelding "Biscuit" was the only one that was absolutely terrified of mud puddles and water! It took my daughter a long time working that horse to get him completely used to water, but he got there. We love your videos btw, thanks for doing them.

I've seen all your videos and I love how you show that it is possible to co-exist with a horse without using a whip and violence, and instead being a team. Thank you. Keep it up!

LOL :) I would have knocked my hat off on the roof! I ask the horse to trust me, it's only fair that I trust her. I was reading your body language and felt confident she was fine with the tent. However, never do anything your not confident about.

It's the depth of course! Being particularly smart suspicious of it! You should have shown her with a stick the depth. Disturbed the puddle.

She is doing great. She has become the spokesperson for Second Chance Equine. I use her as a public ambassador and demo horse to bring awareness to the plight of rescues. She has grown considerable and really come into her own. I plan to use her in training videos for advance horsemanship videos. I have offers of $10,000 for her, she's not going anywhere. Thanks for your kind words.

Your horse is bracing up. This is why I do ground work first. He understands my commands, the point, cluck & spank. Watch Fancy's first & second rides. The guy (Joel) on the ground is controlling and moving the horse. The rider is along for the ride giving new cues to the horse from the saddle. This is easier for the horse to understand. Also he focuses less on the rider and more on what is being asked of him from the ground. I think this is a good method.

@kazza767 It never ceases to amaze me how this method of training creates such a deep bond between these wonderful creatures and us. She actually seems appreciative. She definitely likes being around me, which is a real hoot for my ego!

Horses only think of one thing at a time. Dogs barking or what the rider is asking it to do. Use the same method I used when desensitizing Fancy to the tarp with the dogs. find a starting point near the fence. Work the horse away from the fence and rest her as close to the fence as you can get. Rest her closer and closer until she is right next to the dogs. Approach and retreat.

Ant time you put yourself into a situation where there are unknowns it can be dangerous, however, the more prepared and in touch you are with your horse the safer, the truth is ANY ride can be danerous.

the more you canter a horse what? it cut out at the end when you were talking.
@SecondChanceEquine
@SecondChanceEquine 9 жыл бұрын
The more you canter a horse the better they get. FYI: We do a exercise called cruising where you where you simply lope your horse on a loose rein for 20 to 30 minutes in an enclosed safe area, preferably a fenced in arena. We don't steer or guide the horse (kind of scary the first time you do it) unless absolutely necessary. This teaches the lazy horse to take responsibility for it's own feet and to remain in the asked gait until otherwise told. It teaches the hot horse to slow down and pace itself. The survival instinct to conserve energy kicks in because it never knows when it will get to rest. It teaches the rider to TRUST the horse and in the end you get a softer, slower, better horse that YOU feel safe on.
