The Ultimate Green Lantern never was. THe plan was for there to be two leaders of the Lantern Corps, two whom in their own right would have surpassed the mightiest Lanterns. And their son was destined to be an even more powerful wielder of the Lantern Ring. However even the Fuardians could not stem the flow of fate, and krypton was destroyed but not before the son who had been destinied to lead was saved. However, the Guardians realised that their was a greater destiny for the L:ast Son of Krypton, and the story of the actions to stall Kryptons destruction was told to him when he faced a depression caused by knowing how many there were for him to help, and how many he would be unable to. I LOVED that story oh so many many years ago. [As an aside I also wondered if many years in the future, the Green Lantern Corps fell, and the rings and power batteries were lost, until a small number were found by a scientist and combined into what wuld become The Emerald Eye... sadly not the case, but heck when a child one could always dream about what may be]
