Maybe it will be a good idea for future fish and Crabs to put a piece of rock that has bubble-hair algae,aptasia in the acclamation box. With limited amounts of food so you can see if that crab/fish will eat whatever pest, algae your dealing with?

Best of luck with the Molly Miller Blenny. I bought one and it didn’t eat any aptasia. I read an article that had success with getting them to eat aptasia but they didn’t feed them. They are very personable fish.

@Inappropriate Reefer, my experience with copperband is they are very safe with clams. I kept a few over the years and none of them even look at my maxima clams. Even if (In the rare case)they attack clams, I think clam will close up and you will have time to intervene. You should be more worried about not being able to feed them enough for them to thrive. For me (sadly after a few failed attempts where the fish is eating, but wasted away after a few months) I needed to put it alone in a separate tank until it aggressively feeding on frozen food (first live black worms only and slowly onto frozen food), before putting it in DT. Otherwise, in my experience, they were not able to compete with other fish. Question for you, (beside the first crab that ate ur frogspawns, did you notice any other damage to your corals from emerald crabs from reef cleaners? whether it is in ur main DT or your nano? Thanks.
@InappropriateReefer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I am seeing similar feedback on the Copperband as you mentioned. I will give the Blenny a few weeks and see if he makes an impact on the Aiptasia situation, if it's same-same, I may seriously look into a Copperband. I mean, I do have an acclimation box built, gotta put it to use! As for the crabs, no further damage by them that I could see both in the 135g and 17g (I have one in the 17g), and they did clean up all the bubble algae!
@MrMsm3333 жыл бұрын
@@InappropriateReefer if you do end up getting copperband, might be better to put them in ur 17g mangrove tank first and train it there, rather than in acclimation box. They may be stressed in acclimation box and most likely will not eat. Just an option to think about.

The blenny did look to have personality, but you will find that the Jaw fish is one of the most personality fish you will have. They love to build and dig and they are not shy at all. I used to mess around with mine and flatten the sand mounds and it would re-build again. 🤣🤣🤣

The only issue with the blenny in regards to aiptasia, like peppermint shrimp and such, is that it's only part of what they eat. So if it has other food, it may never eat the glass anemones. The only way to 100% get your aiptasia out are berghia nudibrachs because that's their only food source and they are aggressive hunters. Plus they are so small they don't alter the water parameters in any way with their waste or when they die out after.
@gsander48373 жыл бұрын
I’ve not heard of molly miller blennies eating aiptasia. Mine was a big pain and ended up removing him. Hopefully, yours will be well behaved and received the be kind to tank mates gene. As for aiptasia control, i find bergia are the best natural approach to erradicate apitasia.

The problem with getting anything to eat aptaisa is the animal has to be some what hunger which means you kinda off have to starve your other fish to. Fish food is designed to be more appealing than aptaisa
