Thanks for watching Helle! The great thing about props like these is they really can be slotted into almost anything with a bit of imagination. This one sits in my living room now, and I just can't help thinking "Steampunk Ghostbusters Slime Thrower" whenever I walk by it. What I would really love to see is like 5 of these things lined up in a row like a bank of batteries, would look out of this world :)

I’m doing an alien theme for Halloween and have two cryo chambers in the works. I’ve been racking my brain on how to handle lighting and love what you did here. Totally using this idea along with how you crafted the top with the bowl. Thank you! Yours is beautifully crafted

Thanks for the kind words Kristin, I'm glad you found some useful ideas within the video. More than anything if people don't build this exact prop I'm hoping that the next time they are building something of their own that little lightbulb goes off in their head reminding them of the ideas I used and re-purposing it. The joys of prop making is seeing secondary uses for every object you see! Thanks for watching! :)

Oh, I didn't skip over it. It's just one of the spinning Kaleidoscope lights you can buy around halloween and xmas just mounted to the inside and pointing down. It creates a great effect with very little effort! Something like this is all that was used a.co/d/gSatQ1R Thanks for watching :)

That will look amazing! You most likely can wire the new light up to the 12v of the main car battery, the draw should be low enough that it could run for a week before draining it, without the alternator running. Thanks for watching and am glad you found your solution regardless :)

That looks awesome @tomrc4328 I really like the changes you made to the original idea, and the 5g bucket is a great idea that's almost more available and weather proof than the concrete tube I had used! Awesome re-use of materials to make an awesome prop. Thanks for sharing your awesome creation!

For the inside use mirror film or mirror spray paint to really make the lights pop also go to hobby lobby and pick up a string of lights it's a round bulb with a clear tube filled with the jukebox fluid so when its on it bubbles or buy jukebox bubble light tubes .also you could use cheap fiberoptics filaments.

Both great ideas! This prop still sits in my office and I am thinking about all the stuff that can be done with it and what other props I can build to add to it. Pretty awesome. How much heat does that light produce?
@SamhainPropworks3 жыл бұрын
Very little. It's an LED light with a small motor running the effect, so any heat produced is negligible . It has been running about 5 hours today, so your question had me go check and while the inside of the tube was slightly warmer than the ambient temperature of the room, the heat was not even in the realm of concern. I'm sure if you are using a higher heat producing lamp, putting a vent near the bottom would go a long way to give some extra airflow. Thanks for watching!

You didn’t say where the black foam around the window came from or what it is. Everything else I recognize.

The black foam on the window is the 3/8” Eva foam exercise mats. I’m sorry for not mentioning it in the video 😀. Thanks for watching!
@Aweegar13 жыл бұрын
About how much was the total cost?
@SamhainPropworks3 жыл бұрын
Good question... My guess? 8$ worth of Eva foam mats, $8 worth of Sona tube, $5.00 for the bowls, and Maybe $6 worth of EVA foam sheets and a $2 plastic shoebox. So maybe at max $29 worth on materials outside of paint. Depending on where you source the materials, this may be more expensive or cheaper mind you :). Thanks for watching

@FraidyZone3 жыл бұрын
That's beautiful and really inspires me to get started on this year's Halloween theme!😄👍👍 The clear bowl that you used for the top reminded me that I need to come up with a similar dome idea (but on a larger scale) for the top of a flying saucer.🤔
@SamhainPropworks3 жыл бұрын
That is too funny Fraidy Zone, when I purchased the clear bowls I also purchased 2 metal bowls in case my concept with the plastic ones fell through at the last moment. Falling asleep last night I had a mental picture of a UFO made using those leftover bowls (you just can't shut off a prop making brain). Maybe a Stereotypical Mid 60's style UFO should be in the works! How big do you want to make your UFO? I'll put on my thinking cap and let you know if I come up with an idea of something you could use once I know the scale of what you are looking for. :) Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video :)
@FraidyZone3 жыл бұрын
@@SamhainPropworks Yay! I hope you DO make a flying saucer! All I have so far are 2 (five-foot) plastic kiddie pools just to start with a rounded, relatively large, lightweight base. (One for the top, and the other maybe for the bottom.) I've seen some people use a clear, plastic umbrella to make a dome, but it's hard to mask the fact that it's an umbrella.😂⛱️
@SamhainPropworks3 жыл бұрын
Given the scale, the very first thing that pops into my head is the Rubbermaid plastic garbage can lids (32 gallon Roughneck ones, they are more three dimensional) though you are going to need a spacer to lift them higher from the surface. EVA foam pieces could do this well, you could even easily cut out windows out to give you room to light it from the inside as well :) It's not the stereotypical smooth UFO shape, but I think the end effect will look just as good. Have a good one!
@FraidyZone3 жыл бұрын
