5:25 how did they settle a case for $200K over a cow in the road?? New Mexico is an Open Range State!!!!!! New Mexico has an "open range" law. That means if you live near cattle, sheep or other livestock and do not want them on your property it is your responsibility to keep them off through lawful means. It also means livestock are free to roam wherever, including on roadways. And…if you hit a cow or some other livestock, and assuming you survive, you can be sued by the animal's owner for damage.
@crazyknarf2 жыл бұрын
Unless the state was doing work on the state road and removed a fence. Then IMO the state has the reasonability for the lawsuit.
@forrestgreene11392 жыл бұрын
@@crazyknarf Most likely they would only remove that portion of said fence located withing the road right of way or the road itself if it were already a street previously dedicated to the public. Who's fault is it if your fence is located on land you don't own and it's removed? Yeah, yours.

What happened to the tens-of-trillions of tax dollars missing in the federal government? Government accountability does not exist. I can recall working as a temp in a town in NJ (1980's). The attorney hired for a lawsuit on the town and the fee for his services? $500,000 Per day! plus expenses. Some court cases can go from 2 to 3 days to almost an entire month. The attorney defending the town always wanted to delay the court hearing over and over again. This IMO is the way this man was able to more money the more days he worked, the more money he and his firm would get. So paying settlements is a whole lot cheaper then pay the attorney fees that are out of the world. It's paying the lesser of the claims. And if the township/state/school/university lost the cases that could have cost them millions of dollars in tax payer money.
