I subscribed and have enjoyed many of your videos. As a Military Historian / Military Archaeologist, as well as a detectorist for over 50 years, I admit I get envious because in Europe you have WWI/II stuff all over the place. I did a lot of detecting during times I lived in Germany, France and Belgium and it amazed me. I also took part in formal WWI archaeological projects in Belgium and France, which were important experiences in my life. ALSO-- I'm glad you have your young son involved in detecting and history. I started my older son and he ended up as an historian and archaeologist himself. I've taken my younger boy along since he was 5 years old, and he is already a very good detectorist with a strong interest in history. THANK YOU for your emphasis on the HISTORY rather than what artifacts are WORTH.

Most people wouldn’t even think a foil milk cap as being part of WW2 history. Am fascinated with all the small items as to what they are. The one piece you found that screws in and had the piece on the back looked like it might be an oil pressure sensor. I know what’s under the door but I won’t tell you so it will be a surprise lol. It surprises me as to how you have to dig down deep for some items and other are just laying there on the top of the soil. It’s surprising as to how many cartridges are still out there but you do go to areas were many people haven’t been. Another nice video.

Definitely looks like a lot of wartime activities were carried out on that site with all of the detonators, K98 MG cartridges, Bomb shrapnel, mortar, and hand grenade tops, artillery pieces/shell case, etc. The hand grenade tops cleaned up nicely. The metal door is more than intriguing. I bet it is an underground bunker and most like some angry German soldiers were holding the door shut. Who can blame them, defend they must. That's awesome that you saw a Falcon bird as they are most beautiful. Thanks for braving all kinds of weather HH to bring WW2 history to us.

I found this video occasionally and am happy for you. I am not into this hobby but, like every boy, am very curious. What I think now: - could it be armed? - what could the use of this kind of door have been? - are there other founds of this kind? - could there be death bodies below and how would you deal with that? - have the foxholes a relation with this door? would you expect the men in the foxholes defended what was behind this stash? or is it quit normal that there was a facility for the soldiers (what I can imagine). Questions from a watcher who is unexperienced with this hobby at all. But I am happy for you. And wish you don´t have to wait till another vacation to go back. I know it is your hobby and finding this is a Masterpiece. To be honest: I would be scared to go inside. Please have a safety line, telling someone you trust, what you are doing.

Try lifting on the hole as it looks like the hinge is on the part you were trying to lift. The part that looks broken might be the way to lift it and not broken at all. Maybe that broken piece was put there instead of a handle. At least that's what it looks like to me.

At 17:28 I see the outline of another lid... Is there a follow up video on that other bunker lid then? did you try to open it from all sides? could be the hinges under the side you were prying on... just a though.

+Jim C I see it too. There is definately an other lid visible in the video at that spot.

+Jim C hm , i have to agree , that looks like something in the ground there. I will check my footage and see if it realy could be. i didnt " feel " any lid , at least i cant remember feelig any other lid as i walked there but it could be under the vegetation and therefore i didnt notice. Thanks a lot for that observation and thanks for watching.

You deffinately need to check that out. In my opinion it looks like square shape under the grass. Too straight lines to be made by nature.

Love your videos. I wish I was there to go with you. However, we have to talk about your basic go bag (backpack) that you are bringing. Water, food, gps to help you find the spot when you go back, and some survival gear of some sort for a day or two just in case. Include a FLASHLIGHT. Something with 500+ lumens, operates on 2 -CR123 batteries. Take the backpack every time. You never know what you will find. Small 24 hour pack - you won't even know it's there and will help carry your gear in and out.
