Police arrested seven men in what appears to be a sophisticated drug operation based in a remote clandestine laboratory hidden from prying eyes in the middle of nowhere, where they’re accused of strange alchemy: reconstituting liquid cocaine. Let me tell you about it.

One alleged gangsters was arrested wearing this: a T-shirt featuring an iconic scene from The Godfather, the classic Mafia movie! The Mob Reporter here with news of an amazing discovery in the rural bush of Australia, outside of Sydney.
In a remote and intensely rural part of southeastern Australia, police discovered a large sophisticated clandestine laboratory. Police allege that they were using the lab to extract liquid cocaine, reconstitute it and refine it. Four men were arrested and charged in the Sydney raids and three at the rural property. They ranged in age from 33 to 54. All in, police say they seized Aus$4.7 million in cash, 430 kilos of coke, 30 kilos of it in brick form and 400 kilos in liquid form. Police also seized two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, some cars and two air rifles.

I'm surprised at the commonality of this. During an investigation you look for signs of drug activity. If you're otherwise quiet about where the money is kept & they can't provide the context for a search warrant for that place then they won't be searching your money stash house. It's really a security thing that dealers CAN'T not be ok with not being around their weapons, money & drugs all at once. You could easily have a family member rent an apt in a building of other units & stash the money there. If you're only going there once a month to place money etc you'll be FAR safer from that apt being shook down if the curtains fall.
@ClickClack_Bam
@ClickClack_Bam 2 жыл бұрын
The police would then have to figure out which unit you're going into & if it's not all the time then your liability goes down with the likelihood of it being shook down etc.

Just because Aussie citizens were running the show doesn't mean there isn't South American cartel involvement - the quantities and relative sophistication suggest very well connected and resourced. Using local people with citizenship is about the only way to run this stuff, Australia isn't an easy country to get into, even illegally.

Being an Aussie citizen doesn’t denote their ethnic origin. They very well could be South Americans who are Australian citizens. I have seen this method before of liquid cocaine in Australia in the early 2005- 2010 it was run by Asian crime syndicates with Colombian assistance. They fused the Cocaine into the actual structure of the suitcase and did a chemical reverse engineering process to extract the Cocaine.

@@jorgeledesma2418 Jorge, whilst Australian police has had a significant number of corruption scandals over the last few decades and there are always plenty of dirty cops around, particularly in the drug squad, the Chief of NSW Police would be very well paid just like a lot of the top brass. Australian police isn't corrupt to the core, there are always internal struggles going on between good and bad cops. Hence once every 10 years you have another scandal uncovered by internal investigators.

The problem with running such a huge operation, is that it obviously requires a lot of moving parts (ie humans), and with all those moving parts being involved in the criminal underworld, it's almost certain one of those moving parts are gonna open their mouth to the wrong person, which will then spread like wildfire in the drug scene. So, someone who was arrested recently, clearly knew about that operation and sang like a dirty bird.

Depends how you look at it. Drugs aren't inherently bad but these guys were involved in large scale crime. Whether they actively harmed anyone or not, that amount of cash can finance a lot more crime and harm. The drugs themselves could well be dangerous, poorly extracted and the process could have been lazy and done with no care for quality or purity, simply ease. When people die at their hands they're responsible. I don't care about drugs but being involved in the trade makes you an active member of a huge drain on peoples money, happiness and health. The snitch may have just been jealous or could have had all these moral factors in mind. Or both

This news story just broke here in Sydney a couple of days ago. I was horrified this was happening literally in my Backyard ! Pemulway/Prospect is around 10 minutes from where I live and the secluded farm at Bathurst is around 2.5 hrs drive West of Sydney. I have no idea how the Cops got onto these guys so fast. The investigation was reported as having began in late July. How did such a tight knit, underground operation see the light of day, I'll never know... Snitch you say ?? I can't imagine a small group having one fall out, or a partner of one of the men may have gone sour and let loose. A woman scorned ??

Drug trafficking will never cease to exist, there are governments and forces of the order involved in it. They sometimes catch some traffickers because they must show the tax payers that they are working very hard.
