👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 This was so Africa! You two are enjoying the greatest experiences. On my Africa trek, border crossings were always challenging. Some took many hours of negotiating. Some included inspections with automatic rifles in hand. Others were easy and uneventful. On included a marriage proposal to a nurse travel in our group. She treated a couple of ailing border guards. One was smitten by her. I'm loving every nanosecond of your vlogs. Thank you! ❤️👊👍😎

Hi Nicole, I am not sure if you guys talked about this (even though I'm watching every second of video you are posting), but could you tell us roughly what is your monthly budget for this trip? Accommodation, food, taxes for road or national parks?
@NicoleEddy1
@NicoleEddy1 7 жыл бұрын
Alina Ioana We haven't really budgeted when it's just been the both of us. We have been camping mostly which is cheapest & then have luckily been hosted at quite a few lodges along the way to break it up. Food is cheap once you're out of SA & Namibia, but park fees are probably the biggest factor to budget for. I'll cover this topic in a summary video at the end of the trip.

McNulty030 it completely depends on how much of each country you want to see, one can spend months getting from Cape Town to Kenya, or less than a week taking the main roads. Our trip has taken 3 months & we feel that we have missed so much still.

Nicole, how much does it cost to camp in the locations you have visited and for a room like you showed in this vlog? Thank you.
@NicoleEddy1
@NicoleEddy1 7 жыл бұрын
Chris Brooks It completely depends from country to country, budgeting for park fees is also a big factor as they get pricey as you head further up. The Serengeti's park fees are ludicrous, so much so that I would really battle to justify going back & paying that amount of money again. But camping is obviously the cheapest option. I have listed the places that we have stayed so you can check out their sites & fees.

@NicoleEddy1
@NicoleEddy1 7 жыл бұрын
Travelvids For sure, but it's also real life on the road. We also wanted to show that not all officials, like the two that we encountered on this day, and during the rest of our trip actually, should be tarnished with the same brush & that we had a positive experience after being severely warned about bribery & corruption.
@Travelvids
@Travelvids 7 жыл бұрын

@martinwilkinson7939

Travelvids: On what evidence are you basing your theory that they may be imprisoned in Zimbabwe if officials discover that they were secretly filmed? What law is there in that particular parliamentary democracy that punishes the secret filming of minor officials with arrest and imprisonment? Please elaborate.
@Travelvids
@Travelvids 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Martin, in Africa it's the law of lawlessness. It's not a theory, its just what happens sometimes... this might not have been a threatening situation, but certain countries in Africa are known to hold people for less... They don't need a valid or legal reason to lock you up for a bit... sometimes just to scare you, sometimes just because you pissed someone off. It happens. There is always an element of Wild West still... similar situation happened to us in Namibia a year ago... we were a group of tourists from all over Europe and because i was the driver on that day he assumed I needed a work permit as a guide. ( i was on holiday with friends) I was almost arrested just because he felt like he didnt want me, as a south african with a swiss passport, trying to defend myself. I was just stating i was on holiday but told to stop talking back. Before i knew it 3 military police with guns were getting everyone out car to check for contraband and wouldnt let me go until i had a lisence to be in the coutry and for the rented car.... in the end i realised they were looking for a bribe, but i was too scared to offer one cause then they had a real reason to arrest me... they gave up because i never gave in and let me go.... like i say Africa has a the law of lawlessness and we were just saying be careful...
@martinwilkinson7939
@martinwilkinson7939 7 жыл бұрын
Travelvids: So the 'Law of Lawlessness' which is somehow fundamental to Africa like the atom is the fundamental building block of all physical matter, is what would have got them arrested despite the friendly nature of their interaction with said friendly minor officials AKA Lawless Africans (and may still get them arrested should they return to Zimbabwe and a minor official, AKA Lawless African recognizes them from one of their KZbin videos) and your evidence for this is a bad experience you had in another of Africa's 54 completely separate countries whose main similarity to Zimbabwe is it also has a parliamentary democracy and a low crime rate. OK, thank you for the clarification.

Hi Nicole I decided to stop commenting on all non-tech channels I subscribed to. I’ll explain why. Yesterday Louis posted a vid where he talked about loosing wedding footage he shot of a wedding of a very good friend of him. Some comments where unbelievably rude, disrespectful and offensive. The reactions on my comment yesterday on your channel I found very strange. Putting words in my mouth I never used and no information gathering question but questions with a judgement built in. I’m done with that way of reasoning with one another. Nicole, where (in general) in the process we forgot to ask questions that are not leading and/or are not putting people words in their mouths they never used? Where did the rationally gathering info question go with just the sole purpose of trying to understand the other one better? The impression I have from comments on many channels, especially the non-tech ones, is that I’m reading some cheap english tabloid. There are reasons why I never read these. So I’ll stop commenting, not only on your channel but on all non-tech channels. Nevertheless I like your and Ben’s vids very much and will certainly watch them. I 'm sure somebody will shoot out of the hip again on me and this comment but that's fine. Kind Regards Ed
@NicoleEddy1
@NicoleEddy1 7 жыл бұрын
edsblogging. com Hey Ed, sorry to hear that. I've just gone back to reread the thread & I don't think that anyone was being unreasonable in their reply to you, I think that your initial comment was maybe worded a little strangely which made everyone react to it, so no harm meant :)

Hey! I've never seen this asked - do you guys carry a gun or like a big machete with you at all? Or pepper spray or some line of defense? You always have these amazing trips but they are in African countries that can be known to be dangerous at times (not saying they are war zones but you always got to be careful out alone in the wilderness). Have there ever been dangerous-encounter-stories? Just curious!

Josh David They missed out all the really dodgy African countries. The route they took was the safest route you could take when over landing from South Africa. I know Ben has his army knife with him. I doubt they have a gun or a machete with them as crossing over borders would be difficult especially with all the poaching going on in Africa. They can always use Pumba as a weapon though 😂
@NicoleEddy1
@NicoleEddy1 7 жыл бұрын
Josh David No weapons on us, and most definitely not, or will never carry a gun! You'd be surprised how safe traveling through Southern and most of East Africa is, and when we say that we are from South Africa, all of the locals, even in small villages bring up the crime there. Unfortunately 'Africa' as a continent has a mass stereotype of being very unsafe, but most of Southern Africa & East Africa are all very peaceful places.
@NicoleEddy1
@NicoleEddy1 7 жыл бұрын
In fact, if there's something that has stood out for me on this trip is that South Africa is the least friendliest in comparison, & probably the most unsafe due to the high rates of poverty.
