The car issues are all part of the challenge and excitement and are what will make this trip so memorable. When things go so smoothly and just as planned it lacks the creativity, innovation and spontaneity that problem solving brings to the table. These are the things that make life so gloriously beautiful! Ride on Pumba!

They gave me a bucket of apples to give to this big African Elephant. I was scared at first that his big mouth what take my hand off but he takes it from you with his trunk. It was awesome. The Canon G7X MII is the better camera over the Sony anyway in terms of picture stabilisation and clarity. Just hasn't got the lenses... I'm totally happy with the Canon and use it for all my new videos. This car though... :(

The car has been awesome, it was a simple problem with a simple solution. I like the Canon, however I just don't enjoy the slow zoom & non-interchangeable lenses :)

Nice videos, but can we have more scenery/landscape/wildlife?
@NicoleEddy17 жыл бұрын
I'm trying to film as much as I can on the iPhone, however the wildlife aren't just chilling everywhere, especially when you're on an island. Unfortunately, I can't please everyone, so I'm trying my best to get a balance, especially when not much wildlife is seen. Plenty of wildlife to come from Tanzania and Kenya though.

Thomas Hofmann We've made it up to Kenya with very few problems, I think everyone is quick to forget the magnitude of the trip & the bad quality of the roads that we have driven, yet you guys love to cling onto when the car has a problem, especially something as small as this one :)

Failed alternator front bearing on a reasonably new alternator suggests that the drive belt was set too tight, another sign of a poor mechanic!
@NicoleEddy17 жыл бұрын
Pretty much, waiting to find a decent mechanic in Cape Town who doesn't rinse us for crap work!
@NicoleEddy17 жыл бұрын
No, it was overtightened by a previous mechanic.
@ViDiaz7 жыл бұрын
Well, I can say the alternator is fixed to the engine, and the V-belt pressure is commanded by a tensor and a spring, so its difficult to over tight the bearing... I only can say bearings will fail when you are not expecting it and that sucks yeah, but machines are machines and will fail wherever you are.... Totally normal.
@interdec7 жыл бұрын
Victor Diaz Well, if I remember correctly, there is no tensioner on that engine, and the belt tension is set by the positioning of the alternator, so it's likely that it was too tight, because it only lasted a few thousand k's.
@twelge157 жыл бұрын
Bearings are going on a brand new alternator? That's rediculous.
