Yeah, agreed. Big rotors lose power at high AoA angles very quickly. You're basically creating huge drag by overpitching them.

What does Collective do exactly? As far as I understand at the moment by collective one refers to the collective Pitch of th blades of both the main lift rotor and the tail rotor, which provides more vertical lift or speed if you also pitch the nose forward, so if you want to maneuver at lower altitude between trees for example it's way smarter to keep Collective low so you can maneuver around more easily

@@CaptainGrief66 the RPM of the rotor is affected heavily by the collective and if you try to maneuver at high collective the gyroscopic effect can cause the helicopter to lose control as the tail rotor cannot cope anymore. Piston engine'd helicopters also have the misfortune of suffering from engine torque on top of gyroscopic effect, so, changing collective values too extremely in a short time will cause the heli to essentially fall out of the sky.

At every possible airspeed relative to the rotor's orientation, there is an optimal pitch that produces the most lift, so it needs to be adjusted constantly. Every blade changes its angle of attack with increasing pitch, changing forces acting on it.

Guns on helis are pretty much useless in ground RB. Most tanks eat the rounds like candy and You'll get vaporized before you even get close. Yeah you can kill a heli or two but even then you get like 200RP, -1.5 SL, and a slap in the face from Gaijin.
