@@TravisStevensgrappling In Wiki Jujitsu was derived from Sumo not Judo (from a novice point of view) Karate shadow boxing moments have atleast 6 judo throws as well but not borrowed from Judo because these throws are very basic and also executed in less sophisticated way than in judo.

@@aznkane87 the word "jujitsu" may be as ancient as "sumo" , the word "judo" was probably coined by "kano" the founder of judo.

As a visual we place a broom stick across both big toes, then we place another in the middle between the feet at exactly 90 degrees. The second stick shows his weak base and where to pull or push. This works no matter what stance your partner takes or what direction his feet are facing.

Great transition techniques here, these judo-to-BJJ videos are very insightful. If you were to add a 3rd intermediate judo level transition technique, what would that be? Im also rewatching the shit out of your last Overhand grip escape video to stick it to my Romanian deathmachine sensei next Wednesday. Thank you very much Travis.

Thank you for all the videos. Would you consider doing one on countering the use of 'worm guard' type lapel grips in the standing part of a fight. I mean when someone threads your lapel through the legs inside to outside and uses it for takedowns or to pull worm guard. Thanks again.

I can go over one of my simple answers for it but it’s a complex guard. It really depends on how they have the collar passed though.

Honestly the most repulsive part of modern BJJ is the butt scoot. BJJ was an effect self defence system that got so far up is own ass that is cannot see practicality anymore. From what was an amazing fighting system it's has evolved into sitting on your ass on the street and getting your head kicked off. I'm sure the original Gracies would be proud!. BJJ without high level take downs is basically redundant, the fact most BJJ schools start on the ground and don't emphasis a take down makes no sense to me.

I don’t know if you can address this but do you have anything to say about how to approach randori? I am getting complaints about stiff arming and perhaps being too negative. However at the same time I cannot just allow a throw. I guess it’s just about having a big repertoire of gripping sequences?

@@baekho10 I always hear complains about stiff arming. I'm quite new to Judo and I know very little yet, but I would assume there's got to be good counters to stiff arming. Should the people complaining learn how to deal with stiff arming? Or there are no good counters, and stiff arming just kills all the game?

The way the Olympic Judo people are deforming the art, people seeking to sustain and develop and learn the original complete system will end up migrating to play with the BJJ people who don't ban any part of the original Judo pensum.
