What do you think of this secret Breitling Navitimer release? Also, do you prefer the winged logo, or are you more a fan of the B logo? Let me know!

I think Breitling hasn't been given its flowers, this brand is a par better than Rolex someone will argue in-house movements, Breitling is King!
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
I agree! Breitling is underrated for sure, but it feels like the past 3 years or so have been good for the company thanks in large part to Georges Kern and they're getting the positive recognition they deserve!

@@lion5352-z1s I agree, and that's why I had to buy this one! But I also respect the people that prefer the B logo. We all have our personal preferences 👍

My Navitimer was purchased in 1966 on my 20th birthday, now I am 77 and the watch works perfectly, I cannot speak highly enough about the performance of the watch over these years despite working in several unsuitable occupations. This is my only watch and it is worn every day other than when it is away for servicing which now costs much more than the original cost of the watch !

That is absolutely brilliant! Huge congrats to you for owning such an iconic timepiece for so many years, and making the most of it! It's a strong testament to the quality and reliability these pieces have built into them. I would love to see your Navitimer - alas, wear it in good health and thank you for sharing!

Completely agree: The Wings logo needs to stay! I’m looking at the 48mm version of this with the B04 movement.
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, the Chronograph GMT Navitimer - great choice! Love that it has the sapphire caseback, wings, and the in-house caliber! I'm with you, I'm a Breitling wings person, I know it's down to personal taste, and it wouldn't make business sense to offer the same exact watch in the same dimensions with both the winged logo as well as the B logo, but I do feel a certain "loss" for one of my favorite brands to know that the wings are no longer a thing. Sure, we see a old school version of the wings on the new Navitimer, but it's not exactly the same for me (as I'm sure you'd agree) let me know if you end up buying the GMT Navi 48mm B04!
@cjmcaulay2 жыл бұрын
@@thetimist Agreed, man, and will do. The other option I’m considering is the same movement, but in the Chronomat GMT of the same era. Either could be a forever watch, but would also be durable enough to last until Breitling comes back to their senses and returns the wings logo.
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
That's true, with the added bonus of the extra water resistance as well. Tough choice! For me it was between the Avenger Night Mission 45 in titanium and the Navitimer. I ended up with the Navitimer because it was my childhood dream watch, and also because the Legacy Edition had the wings :)
@cjmcaulay Жыл бұрын
Update: Ended up getting a B04 after wrestling between Navitimer and Chronomat (and then between 44 and 47): The all-in-one versatility of Chronomat GMT 44 won out!

@@thetimist Indeed! And I was so lucky actually, in my city only two were left as brand new with this logo, one was the one I got 46mm steel/gold, other one was 48mm steel gmt. I really liked the contrast that gold gives, so bought that one :)

Yes please! Love the Navitimer but don't like Breitling's new logo without the wings.
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
It's all personal preference, but I agree with you, the winged Breitling logo was what I fell in love with as a kid, so that to me is the signature look. That's why I absolutely HAD to add the Legacy Edition Navitimer to my collection!
@davidrosenblum21782 жыл бұрын
@@thetimist so where exactly did you find it? Searched for it by the model number and came up empty handed.
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
@@davidrosenblum2178 Exactly! Breitling never did any marketing and the website never actually had it listed for purchase which is why this felt like a secret launch! I happened to discover its existence by just randomly making a post on a Breitling Facebook Group describing my "perfect Breitling watch." And that watch was basically the Legacy Edition. Then I was contacted by someone that worked at the New York Flagship Boutique (he's now a good friend of mine thanks to this serendipitous exchange) and informed me that this "perfect Breitling" watch actually existed, that it was just released, and that they have two in stock, one example in the blue dial, one in the black dial. So I immediately asked him to put the black dial in the safe and wait while I sorted out my finances to purchase it! Crazy, but all true!

Does that watch take a battery
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
No it does not - it's a mechanical watch, meaning it's powered by your wrist movement. So as you move, the large spinning weighted rotor you see when looking at the case back of the watch turns thanks to gravity. As it turns it winds the watch and stores that energy in the main spring, which is used to power the watch. Alternatively, you can also wind the watch manually through the crown and that will also power up the main spring. That's part of the magic and allure of mechanical watches - they're beautifully complex yet simple, and they work with zero electric power assistance 😃

What’s the model number on this beauty?
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
That’s the thing, there’s no explicit model designation in the reference to denote this as a legacy watch! Still, it’s the AB012721
@LaithFaouri2 жыл бұрын
It's a very nice iconic watch, but I'm just wondering why it's just a 30m water resistant while there's a cheap homage watches with a 100m water resistant!
@thetimist2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great and super valid question, Laith! Some would say that the slide rule bezel on the Navitimer can’t be sealed properly. But then again we see Sinn producing watches that are extremely similar to the Navitimer with more water resistance. So I agree, I think it’s doable but Breitling is doing their thing. I’d love to see a “Navitimer Pro” with a screw down crown and 100m water resistance but I suppose only time will tell - thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts 👍

The size is the thing most people will notice, it's not for everyone but I think it handles its dimensions well given the 46mm case. I do also have the leather strap (and the rubber one too haha!) just in case :)
