The Pac-Man episode is so sick honestly. It shows how the game work through abstract, cosmic horror story lol.

dnd fan perspective (my own) - the hardest promise of dnd to fulfill, that is usually the gateway into dnd as a play fantasy, is a very high stakes feeling of sensational dire cinematic importance and intensity. day to day I'm a laid back silly dork, but my ultimate highest goal of gameplay are moments and tone and insanity and (non edgelord) juxtaposition between party members with different attitudes and beliefs. the REALITY of dnd gameplay is it's 90-95% silly and self-aware and light and weird in a good way. but now like, the kind of funny light tone that (justifiably) is standard in mainstream representations of superhero content has really come to dominate most access points for dnd. simply, the game is already usually goofy in real time. dnd shows (CR, D20) are rarely intense or heightened. the movie, which rules, covered the goofy side of dnd. bg3 covers that. so on aggregate still, 90% of dnd in media is like the funny meta anachronistic juxtaposition factor. so like similarly to Werewolf By Night or the Captain America sequels, I love that this fully inhabits a rarely represented promise of this hobby.

BG3 covers that is that saying you like BG3 or not? Me personally BG3 is one of my favourite games but instead i dislike a lot Marvel and all those mainstream things.

Agree with what you said too about your issue with the episodes being too short. 100% agree with that. With how short the episodes are, there’s not enough time for the story and characters to elevate, so therefore we can’t understand their motivations or personalities. Still great though!

The series is a solid 8.5/10. Not perfect but there was so much good storytelling in it. Episodes 1, 4, and 5 were spectacular in my opinion. I definitely hope for more. This series has so much potential for greatness 🙏

"They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war I shall forge them. They shall be of iron will and steely sinew. In great armour I shall clad them and with the mightiest weapons shall they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight them. They shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines...and they shall know no fear."

"This takes itself very seriously" isn't there a repeated gag of an ice wizard extinguishing flame magic of the halfling in a very serious fight? This episode felt the most complete, just like one sesh of DnD with your pals.

So I wanna give my thoughts! I sadly don't think Secret Level is as impactful as Love, Death & Robots. As you say, they're more like game trailers, a lot of stories made me go...part 2? Anyway! Episode 1 - I liked it for what it was! The bestial transformation near the start was amazing to see, I'm just not super big on DnD or high fantasy but alas it was a strong start. Episode 2 - Never played Sifu, but I picked up on the mechanic quick enough. Made me wanna go try the game, good episode! Episode 3 - It felt like a waste of time, I think it wanted to be a comedy? Arnold sounded rather silly and out of place. It gave off a 'our game will waste your time like this episode did'. Episode 4 - Never played Unreal Tournament but I enjoyed it! Robots gaining sentience and rebelling is a rather...well used trope but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Some minor complaints like the tech guy not pulling the plug sooner but overall I enjoyed it. One of the few episodes that I felt like had an ending. Episode 5 - I like Darktide, my love and knowledge of 40k is surface level but I am so tired of seeing space marines all the time. Would've loved to have seen literally anything else. The ending confused me too, I thought they weren't coming back as the planet was going to be destroyed. Could they not have been extracted? Why is the guy still fighting at the end? Neat visuals, but confusing ending with an overused asset. Episode 6 - I saw the preview and was sceptical but I actuallybreally enjoyed it! The twist of sorts near the end was great, love the visual metaphors and such. One of the few with an ending if you count the loop as such. Episode 7 - I get the idea, soliders having their own agenda like players in a CoD lobby, each on a team with their own objecitve that clashes with the other. The use of thermal imagery also bothered me cause it doesn't work like that, I got confused near the end too, maybe a rewatch would clear thing's up as I don't know if I missed something or it just wasn't clear. Episode 8 - I loved Armoured Core 6 so getting to see the world in this perspective was neat! Effects were nicely done, but I would have loved it to be a bit longer! I don't really like rankings as such but my personal one is, from best to worst: 2 4 6 8 1 5 7 3

Just want to add some insight for you on Arnold and EP3. In the actual game the first NPC you come in contact with is Arnold's character from SL. You never know his actual story and SL gave us that story. I absolutely loved it.
@trayntpАй бұрын
First 8 episodes: 3/5; B- (The only episode I “cared” anything about what was happening was Unreal Tournament: Xan, the robot revolution in the game. The fights & action in Sifu and Warhammer were impressive, but overall, I thought the animation took a step backwards to a time when characters had dead lifeless eyes and expressions, which made the series “Polar Express” level disappointing overall.)

Thought it was a great show, fantastic visuals and some of the stories were incredibly well told. But yes some of them had that video game cinematic feel to them From best to worst Warhammer 40k Armored Core Cross fire Sifu Unreal Tournament Pac-Man New World Dungeons and Dragons No doubt everyone’s list is gonna be different but for the most part I liked them all apart from maybe the dungeons and dragons episode which I found to just be very generic and lack Luster. Cross fire I found really engaging as this Tom Clancy espionage action thriller. I don’t think we get enough of this kind of media anymore. Warhammer was epic and this franchise is just waiting to truly hit the mainstream. It’s on the cusp of it right now but it just wants that proper adaption to put it over the line

Disappointing. Only positive is that this show re affirmed that Dungeons and dragons and Warhammer are definitely franchises that deserve to be bigger and will be bigger in the upcoming years. Theyve always been 'nerdy' franchises that dont appeal to the casual audience but i think that will be changing soon

generally good review. but episode 7 and armored core you missed the point of the meaning in those. I dont understand the game of episode 7, but its not copy and paste like you said, they kept talking about being the "good guys", if you played video games you would believe your team or faction is the good guys, and the enemies believe the same. there meaning there. I don't play armored core, but i understood what the story was, you obviously didn't, and shit on it being a game cinematic cut. But hey, some of us are built different.

Why are the graphics so much better than video game cut scenes? Why can’t video games afford to make good quality graphics when they’re charging more than $100 for certain titles. Meanwhile, I can watch this for free. Why are graphics so bad and not improving? And it’s not just the graphic alone. The cinematography and composition and editing is far superior. Not to mention the acting! Why do video game makers think it’s reasonable to have two or three second pauses between one characters dialogue and the other characters response. It’s complete garbage. Video games are becoming so stale. It’s time for a serious refresh and I hope that people that work on these projects will be hired to create games. I’m honestly so disappointed with the current state of games.

The Crossfire is easily one of the worst. 1/10. I don't get why they had to put Budget Cpt. Price there. Like bro just killed your bestfriend wdym you won't shoot him cuz principles???? What? Wdym you just gave up the package? Everyone went sudden 180 like it was an airsoft game and the arbiter just called time. Take Escape From Tarkov's Raid, a very similar plot. It's much more realistic, it is stressful, confusing even and you can definitely feel their pain as their situation gets from bad to worse and in the end, the characters realize that they're all just dogs stuck in the same slaughterhouse.
@UnworshipedietyАй бұрын
They were all soldiers of fortune conscripted to do a job. None of them were freaking heroes just soldiers of fortune. The job was something none of them were willing to cry over, it was just another Tuesday, basically just business. It was about what war usually breaks down to, in modern warfare it isn't about who's right, but who you meet along the way. Those very same people that they were fighting could have been allies on any other given day. I mean, still not the best presentation for an anthology I would have gone more Bad Guy versus Good Guy, but those types of games are all about that grey area. So I think folks who like that kind of stuff, were eating good.
@andriecutay3053Ай бұрын
In the old Crossfire lore the Global Risk is a Good guy (one with black and blue uniforms) while the Blacklist is the bad guy (one with multicam) fighting for dominance while in Crossfire X both organizations look themselves as the good guys and can't stand each other and the developers who made Crossfire X campaign didn't even put an effort of the works leading the storyline feel flat. And I haven't watched the Secret Level Crossfire since I don't have a prime acc. to watch it and after seeing the comments of others regarding there opinion to Crossfire leading to my opinion that the Secret level Crossfire episode story might be mid at best.
