Secret Moves in Every Mario Game

Hey yall welcome to a very special video where today Im going to showcase some special moves that Nintendo doesnt necessarily tell you about across every single Mario game. In NSMB U the mini spin jump mid air has always been a thing by shaking the remote, In the NSMB games the 4P Groundpound is a hidden move

Only in NSMB Wii and NSMB U the Multiplayer Groundpound at the same time exists. NSMB DS and NSMB2 doesn't have this.

The midair spin was not a new move added in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It was possible in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the original New Super Mario Bros. U by shaking the controller or pressing R (or the Wii Remote equivalent which I don't know about). The title screen cheat code you mentioned only makes the move not activate after pressing A, making the controls more like the original game.

Some moves/abilities I figured I'd mention in case not everyone knew In Mario World, the spin jump can be used to bounce off enemies that would normally hurt you. If you use the cape and fly straight down towards the ground it causes an earthquake that hurts enemies and flips Koopas. Mario 64 has the break dance move by crouching and pressing B as well as the slide by pressing B instead of A before a long jump. Mario Sunshine has a fast way of movement by squirting water on the ground and then belly sliding onto it. Mario Galaxy has the homing groung pound where you shake just as you're groundpounding. Also using the nunchuck to spin can grant you slightly different height distance. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if you and a few other players ground pound at the same time, it causes a "team groundpound" that shakes the screen as if you threw a POW block.

Numchuck gives slightly different height in galaxy? How do we get that in the switch port? Do we shake the left joycon? I assume it's impossible in handheld mode

The spin jump in SMW is basically a necessity in Super Mario Maker, because a LOT of the high difficulty levels are basically Kaizo ROMhack style levels. Some of them don't even have solid ground except at the very beginning and very end of the stage.

You should've mentioned the spam spray or water slide in Sunshine, they're both far more useful than the spinjump spray, can't say the spam spray doesn't count cause it's somewhat of a glitch either if we're counting wall jumping from the original SMB

You can store a mega mushroom in word 1-2 of new super Mario bros by letting it go under the pipe before you grab it.

18:41. It is possible without jet run, you just need to be going max speed and get good timing. However, as far as I have tried, it won't go indefinitely without jet run.

I've been playing Odyssey for a almost a year and have STILL yet to to a successful cappy twirl jump. So damn annoying when i see other player do it casually.

4:25 - Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, CD, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (a few more Sonic games too I believe) let you do this but instead it's a vertical scroll up or down by holing up or down on the d-pad respectively. 4:54 - This is something like the barrel in Carnival Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where unless you mash buttons and get lucky (or just mash buttons in SMW's case) or someone tells you how it works, you'll have no idea what to do here.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the cheat in NMSB DS where the screen doesn't scroll to the left like SMB1 because I never knew that for a long time.

for the wall jump, mario has to be running toward a wall, then he will clip a few pixels into the wall, where he has 1 frame to press jump while he is partially inside the wall. i think.

In Super Mario 3D World (both the Wii U and Switch versions), knock the shell off of a koopa troopa and grab it. As you hold it, crouch down, and you will enter the shell and can run around the level as a spinning shell, hitting blocks and enemies. Hit the crouch button again to get out of the shell. In New Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo DS, there was a power-up to wear a blue shell and do this, but in 3D World you keep your current power-up. You just cannot use it while in the shell.

You can hit a backflip (gainer) in NSMBW by doing a frame perfect swap to facing backwards before the last jump in a normal front flip.

In Mario Sunshine the spin spray can be done without jumping and next time you grab a line, instead of using the hover nozzle to twirl yourself use the rocket nozzle and keep using it until your flood is empty, let go and see what happens

If you use Pokio in mario odyssey (This is a capture secret move) If you press Y repeatedly and spin the joystick (like twirl jumping) The Pokio will do a spin attack.😅

Not to date myself, but any 80s/90s kid would know that sm2 crouch jump from looking at the manual. Not saying anybody is to lazy now, but it was just something you did before the internet. Edit: I've seen sm3 speedrunners use the tail flying technique (mashing both buttons) too, may be it works in more than one game?
