One of the things I liked in Oblivion that was low key, was that the Daedric Shrines all had NPCs that could point you to where they were. Rather than just stumbling across a statue that actually worked as one blindly. It felt somehow more right for that information to be rarely known (Who wants to consort with Daedra normally?) but still rarely known (like 2-3 people can tell you where any shrine is if I remember). Felt a lot more, balanced per se. Than something like Morrowind where even though some locals worship the daedra openly none of them seem to know or care where the shrines to those Daedra are. Nice little touch really.
@DarkLOREDash
@DarkLOREDash 2 ай бұрын
I genuinely agree. Especially due to the taboo nature of the statues. Stumping across an npc willing to risk being a social pariah by admitting they know anything about the statues was a great touch

I really loved the way Orcs were portrayed in Oblivion. Sure, they are still tough and impolite bunch but they were not the trivial LOTR Orcs we are so used to as enemies in RPGs. Orcs in Oblivion are just like other races in many ways, although they are usually the butt of a joke. Can't say the same about skyrim's orc tribes honestly.
@deadseven3474
@deadseven3474 2 ай бұрын
Agree to disagree there, I think the orcs are treated fairly well in Skyrim. There are orcs who grew up outside the strongholds or left them living with everyone else, or those living in their traditional strongholds like Malacath intended. the dichotomy is interesting, there's even a few points where more free-willed orcs clash with the stronghold life.

What's wrong with the orcs in skyrim? They either exist in cities just like oblivion or hang out in their strongholds because most people aren't cool with the worship of their god. The strongholds are closer to how they act in the lore, and they're pretty chill even in them. They just want to be left alone, they aren't really killing people like monsters.
@Normal_macdonald

@KoongYe 2 ай бұрын
@@yurisenpaii I didn't say there was anything wrong with them. I thought they were just stereotypical ones we get in games like Warcraft and such living in mountain fortresses being unfriendly to outsiders. My point was Oblivion's Orc race was a fresh take on the race as they live among the other races not causing extra trouble and fitting in like any other member of the empire. Hell, even the grand champion is a half-orc.

@@BloodwyrmWildheart To be fair Oblivion in general really kinda shafted orcs, making them this stereotypical dnd bullshit with like the tiniest bit of flair that makes them seem like children, rather than the long-changed descendants of the powerful disciples of Trinimac, scorned and out-cast by every bit of society that wanted them, reveling in the betrayal of their CHIMer brothers, becoming like them. Destined to never build anything to truly last, but always building atop the dung of their own corpses. Oblivion just kinda made them dumb little babies that can rip your throat out or tamed little cogs in the machine, not fit to utter their race's name on their heretical lips. Basically all of them have forgotten Malacath's teachings, and Malacath himself was bastardized into this raging little manchild for some reason. It's a bad characterization
