@theropemonster I watched a lot of KZbin videos before I came. Then I realized when I showed up a couple weeks ago, checked in on 10th near Punta Esmerelda, that those videos were not even giving me a glimpse of what Playa is, what it can be if you go off the beaten path a bit. . I walked a good 5 hours a day my first week here. I was scared maybe the first 5 minutes. Then I discovered the people-the food- the artwork-the 'old playa.' And all three are amazing. I can not get it out of my mind, the thought of what that side of town must have been like 30 years ago. When the beautifully structured buildings were new and there was no commercialized downtown. I felt, on my walks, that the government let its people down, sold land to foreign investors then put their money in the areas that bring in the tourist- and neglected these ones. Even still, these places are full of character, well lived in and loved. I LOVE the way everyone playes their music all day long, however loud they want. Its great!. We had to move closer to town because we couldn't get more days with our airbnb. It's harder for us over here because we MISS the charm of that area so much.

@@theropemonster Yes, there used to be a "Sargassum Season"...usually June to the end of September. Unfortunately, Sargassum is now a year-round issue on the Caribbean beaches of Mexico. It occurred about 10 or 15 years ago & has become MUCH WORSE during the past 5 or 6 years. Best regards, Ben

Came from cancun yesterday and the main beach was so full. After I found a spot a group of really drunk guys were feeding birds and others were taking video and mimicking. Was really annoying. Thanks for the video.

Yes, that’s a common sight on the main beach unfortunately… the need for the secret spots is very real! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼

Exactly on the Remittances! Not just remittances, but actually Mexicans (or Mexican-Americans) who live in Mexico but cross the border legally to work because of the strong US jobs market. They make up FAR more of a population of workers hose bringing in a lot of USD. Be that as it may, I think we are going to see things balancing out this year.

Nice video. With regards to the strengthening of the Peso. Consider the massive shift of manufacturing from China to Mexico. The technical term is “near shoring”.

Praia del Sargasso ? IF that seaweed gets down your pants, it itches like hell !
@theropemonster3 ай бұрын
Haha well it doesn’t always have the Sargasso! There are a lot of heart shaped stones and corals people have put there… so maybe Playa Corazón? ❤️ 🏝️

Thanks for your videos, I’m learning a lot on Playa! I will visit this coming October for a week, what do you recommend to do for daily expenses, use cards and have cash as well? What is the best way to exchange for cash. Thanks
@user-cr3nt5vx3m3 ай бұрын
I haven't used it in a long time but Charles Schwab has (had ?) a debit card which gives a decent exchange rate and reimburses transaction fees. Never accept an offer from an ATM with a "special rate". The rate is set daily by the institution with the emblem on the card. You can check their daily rate (which is good for the day) from their website. And when you use an ATM be sure the emblem on your card is displayed on the machine itself.

Awesome! I like to use debit at the restaurants and pull pesos directly from the Citi Banamex ATM to get the best rate. Changing dollars directly you will generally get a poor rate. Sometimes the ATMS DONT HAVE CASH, so try to keep enough cash on hand and pull out cash on weekdays! Thanks for watching 😎

Yes! Great advice. The Schwab card is the GOAT of foreign travel and withdraws for sure

Many places accept cards but you need cash for small things & taxis. I would bring a few hundred cash w/ me & exchange some of it at a cambio. Many places take USD too.
