Secret Tech: Multicolor | Underplayed and Undervalued Gold Cards in Commander

One of my favorite cards, specifically in my Sidisi deck, is Wood Sage. It only sees play in 166 decks and is only about 10 cents. The ability to just name a creature card you don't have and mill four is usually the default, but the added benefit of being able to potentially grab a creature card in dire straights or if you brainstormed something is just so nice. That and Hunting Grounds (because threshold is so easy to turn on) are some of my favorite gold hidden gems.

I've played the hell out of Molderhulk, and it's definitely a card that makes people go "wtf is that trash?" but in my deck (Muldrotha) it's often a 2 mana 6/6 that ramps you. It's also an ETB, so in something like Yarok Landfall it's equally baller. Molderhulk+Yarok+Field of the Dead+any fetch land=2 mana get a 6/6 and 8 2/2 zombies.

I think people look at Altar of Bone and just see "bad Eladamri's Call" and skip it. It's also on the Reserved List, so it will probably never be cheap. Maybe the true Secret Tech is running both cards!

One interaction I hadn't realized at the time was: I used the final ability on Mirari Conjecture and cast Invent, copied. I searched for Nexus of Fate and, if you have the mana to cast it, it will shuffle itself back in to search for it again

Cherries sleeping on Fulminator Mage. Its a creature in black. That means it can be fetched out of a deck and thrown into a grave yard and then recurred multiple times in a game to take bites out of your opponents lands, and like Beezy said you don't have to sac it, you can use it as a deterrent early game to give yourself some breathing room from would be attackers. I love it! Def gonna look into getting one of these for a rakdos deck im putting together.

I love oracle of nectars. Use all your extra unneeded mana on lifegain at the cost of a tap + X. It can be in either green or white decks and when paired with a card like nyxbloom ancient you can get some massive lifegain. Since tap abilities can be used as instants too it can save you in the moment when you don't forsee an ability trigger that can make you lose. Great for any white and especially for any green deck.

Invent is sweet in Vial Smasher spellslinger decks and if nothing else, Invert can save you from like an Akiri Lineslinger swing or something if those are in your meta, just as gravy when you're running the card for the Invent half. Of course you'd rather tutor for an answer to the threat along with a second spell, but idk maybe you're choked for mana on your plans that turn or something

Knight of the reliquary can be a little awkward, but it works great in my derevi deck since I can untap it like 5 times in a turn. Also, thanks for the renegade rallier, it looks like a 3rd wood elves in my 4 color omnath flicker deck!

I would love to see secret tech for all the color combos. Like Jund, Jeskai, and Orzhov. With golgari, have some mono colored, gold and colorless cards that are good with usual golgari strategies(graveyard). Would be great for those color combos I never use. That would be a lot episodes with so many color combos, but if your looking for content I would watch them all.

My favorite gold secret tech is Dovin's Acuity in my Ramos slingers deck. Pretty much everything that isn't ramp is an instant, so this is baller.

I would only play fulminator over avalanche riders and goblin settler if I cared about it being a dies trigger over an etb or cmc3 matters. But if you are playing a graveyard toolbox deck you will have sac outlets anyways and riders puts itself in the graveyard. I don't think the rattle snake aspect of the card is enough to play it over the better 4 drops. In addition to settler and riders is fine though.

Shadow of Doubt is a card that I have from playing Modern. It was a good card in Modern when Birthing Pod was the top deck but I think it has fallen out of favor since then. It's price has always been that high due to it being pretty old and it has fringe use in control decks in non commander formats.
