Great tip Jonny. I have used bolts, transfer punches, hex shank punches or chisels. You are absolutely correct, you have to have something on the inside so it does not collapse the tube. Allen wrench is great. Great and useful content. Thank you, EM.

El Chingon! I've not seen the allen head key trick before but will remember that one. I'd hate to see the rodeo it takes to remove that part while off the block.

It can be a pain. I did one at the end of that video but was able to get it off. But not if you’re MoparNut 62. He can do it with his eyes closed using only his pinky toes. I think he’s related to Chuck Norris.

Where did you get the fitting for the temp gauge sender? I need one and can’t find one anywhere.
@JonnyMopar11 ай бұрын
I used what came with the gauge. I haven’t ever seen just the adapter by itself. Unfortunately, you’re probably gonna have to just buy a new set. If you have a nice gauge I would just buy a cheap set for the adapter and toss the gauge.

Nice tip. I learned a couple of things from removing nipples from ancient boiler heads and antique cast iron radiators. First is using heat, of course. Then, first tighten before loosening - to help break the rust. Lastly if necessary, cut it off near the deck and then insert a hack saw blade and cut through the nipple being careful to just graze the threads. Then knock it out with a metal chisel. The hack saw blade is actually very quick because those black iron NPT nipples are very soft. I would recommend then removing the water pump to clean out the metal shavings before starting the car.

That’s pretty hard core Howard. Actually sounds like a cool video to watch. Heat definitely helps. I haven’t needed to escalate to that level yet but I’ll keep your tips in mind if I ever need to. Thanks for the tips.

Great video and great idea with the Allen wrench! Mine were on from the Jurassic period, ended up collapsing them into the threads and buying a new aluminum water pump. Was wondering if you can do a video with a terrible Edelbrock Stumble off the line. I’ve run into so many people that go down a rabbit hole like I am right now of jetting metering rods and trying to get the initial stumble off the line out of an Edelbrock 750. There are videos online sure I watched almost all of them but I’m having a heckuva time here in Colorado with my new motor finding the key and the sweet spot. I don’t live around any Mopar Guy so KZbin is all I have. Which is actually a lot. With videos like yours thank you.

Thanks Max. I’ve actually never had any off idle stumbles with the AFB’s before (Edelbrock’s, Weber & Carter) except when the Accelerator pump is bad. How confident are you that it’s in good shape? And how comfortable are you taking the carb apart? If you have Facebook and Messenger friend me there. Be sure you tell me your name responding to this comment so I know who you are in Messenger. Im Jonny Mopar there too.
@maximuswedgie51492 жыл бұрын
@@JonnyMopar sounds good and good to know, I have taken apart and rebuilt and feel pretty comfortable doing that, I can’t find an accelerator pump anywhere around where I am, so I have tried using the orange grommet in the Edelbrock carb rebuild kit. I bet thats not working out and could be my issue all this time. I will get on my wife’s Facebook or finally create a Facebook page and message you, thanks Johnny

Where did you get those plugs?
@JonnyMopar3 ай бұрын
@@stevodakine1 I just had them but I think you can get them from a hardware store. I also think O’Reily’s and AutoZone has them on those little racks where they have bolts. But I’m not 100% on that. And usually when you get a freeze plug set for your Mopar Big block I think it comes with 2 for the rear of the block. They usually don’t strip or rust out so I keep the old ones. Hope that helps. BTW, I think some of the firings might be really large on the aluminum WP housing so you might have to go to the hardware store to get that size.
