Just for everyone wondering why the torque is so low: Toyota has never posted combined torque figures for their dual electric motor/full hybrid systems (they do for their single motor versions that use a real transmission, like the Sequoia and Crown Platinum). The torque figure is for the gasoline engine component ONLY. Apparently figuring it out is too complicated with the two electric motors up front and the added one in the back for AWD...but performance of the RAV4 hybrid and CX-50 hybrid shows that the real world torque are competitive with the Tucson and Sportage.
@RonAhL10 күн бұрын
thanks for this, i'm also wondering why my lexus 350h only has 240nm torque while the honda civic e hev can reach a maximum torque of 315nm.haha
@JMaxx-z5r9 күн бұрын
the 160lb/ft is the gas engine. I have sat in the New camry awd and the 18 rav4 hybrid limited. i would place the torque in between the 2004 Jetta TDi stage 1, and the old Volvo S60 R, its in there somewhere. There isnt a exact number as its on demand, in Mclaren's terms, its called "torque fill".

I wish Mazda would kill all sorts of plastic cladding. It just makes a cara look weird, there are ways to do it right (Look at the Lamborghini Urus for that) but in the way Mazda does it, it just looks terrible.

I don't understand why the US gets screwed for features. Mazda in general, their trim levels and so on is just way complicated then it needs to be too. I waited all this time for the hybrid version, keeping myself away from buying the Turbo Premium Plus...in hopes that the hybrid is going to have the same trim/features as the turbo ones but with the benefit of the way better fuel economy. To be honest, I'm just looking for something that is more fuel efficient than my current car, so the turbo might be ok, I only would be going from a 16 MPG (23 gallon tank) vehicle to a 25 MPG (15 gallon tank), Id save about half on fuel per year going to the turbo. The hybrid is appealing because you save more and so on... just disappointing the hybrid in the USA is "more bare bones".

Is that torque figure correct? That seems very low considering Mazda's 2.5L non-hybrid is 186. With the hybrid, I'd have expected it to be close to (if not over) 200. 163 with this much weight and CVT seems like it would feel really, really slow. Does it use Toyota's hybrid CVT system where first gear is an actual gear before the CVT takes over? Disappointed to hear that the handling wasn't great; that's something Mazda usually outshone the competition on.

I hate that as Canadians we now decide which car to buy based on car theft trends. How pathetic is that? Viewers outside Canada might think you were joking with that quip but it’s a sad fact. It’s really a shameful indictment of the state of our Country in 2024. We pay more for everything comparatively to the US and get far inferior services in return. Property theft gets a collective shrug from law enforcement.

The west coast of the United States is also like this. Times may be changing though.

Mazda has scored higher than Toyota and Honda on reliability scores over the last 10 years.

100% true. But if your goal is to keep a car on the road for 25 years, I'd still rather have a Toyota or a Honda. A big part of what keeps a car running is the availability of parts, repair expertise, donor cars, special tools, etc

It is the shifter from a Toyota. The shifter is different from the gas CX-50

Companies are straight lying about consumption.....I got mazda3 sport (not turbo) 2022, I think it said 6.4L, I spend 9.1 - 9.9. There is NO WAY to go lower. So I'm assuming for this car, it would be similar.

It really depends on how and where you drive. I always drive my cars around or under the manufacturer claims.

yeah, gonna just get a used 50 turbo premium plus for around $32k instead. The prices on this don't make sense in Texas, where gas is only $2.69 a Gallon

Any price is worth it for the thong seats

A lot of reviewers complaining about seats, must be bad

I own one since june (Meridian edition) and I never noticed anything uncomfortable with the seats... Maybe I place it differently...
