Thank you for making this film, Alec! I was that girl - 23 years ago. I chose to keep my little girl even though I was only 18 at the time and had no idea how I would make ends meet. Thank God, my parents stood with me. I was able to bring an amazing, beautiful, gifted daughter into the world and although we have both been through so much, I KNOW that I made the right decision in keeping her. Without her, I would have had this massive void and ache inside of me. If you are out there today, wondering if you should have an abortion or keep the baby, I want to encourage you: be brave! I know it's complicated, scary and uncertain. Even though I had my parents, we were by no means wealthy so there were a lot of challenges but by the grace of God we made it through! Don't give up hope - you're a fighter, you're gonna make it to the other side. God has a plan for you and your baby.

Wow 😭 I’m glad I watched this explanation of the video. Not that it wasn’t clear but I have a 10 month old daughter that I placed for adoption after discovering that I was pregnant after being in a relationship for only 1 month and realizing how unhealthy it was. I was terrified but knew having an abortion wouldn’t solve anything because I would live with the grief and shame and pain for the rest of my life. At least by giving my daughter life could I be proud. Fast forward to being in the hospital and I had chosen a family to adopt her and knew though that it was the last thing that I wanted. There was so much good to come through with it but I ended up making that decision still and now ironically feel like I’m living with the grief, shame guilt and pain that I may have otherwise felt with having an abortion. It’s even more painful because my heart is so in love with my daughter but saying goodbye to her after visits, etc...it has been so overwhelming. I get that this video shows the best of being a single mom and it wouldn’t be all easy either...I mean it does show struggles but the love so powerfully shines through. I’ve realized what I have lost by placing my daughter into another family’s home when I could have made it work most likely and even though I go to church it’s tough bc a lot of people don’t understand and cannot relate. We still can have a ‘relationship’ but I struggle too with how that will look and what she will think of me. All this to say, however that I am very thankful for this film and the message behind it. It’s a difficult subject to tackle but I believe it was done very creatively and lovingly. Going back to adoption, I hadn’t realized before looking into adoption and placing my child for adoption as to just how taboo it is in the church still in ways. Whether it’s the pain of how closed things used to be around it and the shame of pregnancy out of wedlock and the desire to hide it in a way...somehow making the child be born into a cloak of shame...it’s horrible from that perspective. But for women nowadays when the numbers of those who go to church still are choosing to have an abortion and yet the church should be a place of hope, love and healing for those who find themselves surrounded by people with stones...it’s tough even in a Christian world with also Christian adoptive parents because they struggle with the inability to become pregnant when others can who don’t even try and it just sets things up for angst. Ok...sorry for this essay but thanks again for being led by God and for partnering with him to share his heart to those who are lost. God bless you all! ❤️

Becca! Joy here, I'm one of the producers of the film. I wanted to personally comment back on yours because from my family's testimony is where part of my own personal inspiration for this film came from. I'm from a large family who has actually adopted four children, so we are on the other side of things, but even then my family has had what has felt like a lot of "taboo" situations in certain Christian groups. It puts all of the family members involved in extremely difficult situations because of this. I am sure that the decision to give your child up for adoption was difficult, but you made the decision to give your child the best opportunity that you could! In that decision, you gave them more love than you can possibly imagine. If someone hasn't said it to you before, let me just say that I am SORRY that you haven't been treated with love in this situation. You chose to put your daughter first, and that's a good thing. You are loving her whether near or far, and you should be nothing but supported by the people around you in this. Know that the Lord loves you and is by your side in this difficult situation!

Messenger Studios, Joy-thank you so much for your kindness and compassion. There has been love and understanding but it is still a very solitary type of pain. It’s a difficult road but one I want to prayerfully journey because I recognize that this has brought out so much of the mess that was already inside me and unattended to. Even in this God had been working grace and love although it is hard. Perhaps that’s another misconception that I have had 😕 I know many people who have adopted children, family included and I have seen the beauty and love it has allowed for others...but now I’m wrestling with being separated from my child and it is tough. Who knows when Jesus and I will come to the other side of this, but I’m looking forward to what he’s doing. Maybe even one day I will be able to say I’m thankful for the brokenness.

@@beccrowe If you haven't before I'd encourage you to check out the book called The Bait of Satan by John Bevere! It's a great book that talks about being able to forgive offenses, whether by yourself or other people. Adoption is a lot messier than people give it credit, but trust that the Lord has his hand on it!

Becca..What state are you in? I attend a Birth Mother retreat that is held by a Christian adoption Agency here in GA called Covenant Care Adoptions...they are such a wonderful agency! They bring their Birth Mothers in their circle and treat them like a family! I had been living with the secret of my private adoption and all the pain that it caused me for over 10 years...ten years of shame and longing to tell someone...anyone about my daughter...after the first night at my first retreat...I felt like a weight had been lifted off my body and that I was no longer alone with this pain. It was amazing to meet and be with other women who knew just how messed up I was inside...and they were ok with it! The ladies who have open adoptions share their pictures and stories of visits with their child...Now I work with women who find themselves in crisis pregnancies and try to help the ones who are in the same place I was...it helps heal me in ways I can't explain to someon

Thank you so much for this film. I'm a single mother, who happens to find herself with a second unexpected pregnancy. It's been hard many times, but if it weren't for my first child and his excitement to be a big brother, plus my faith, I can't imagine how lost I would feel. This video means a lot to me. I can't say it's easy, but my 2 children have inspired me to start anew, to rediscover myself and my passions, and now I have started my own small business with my art. I have an Instagram page @bakedandsingedartistry_, but if anything, I ask for prayers. I'll be keeping your wondering works in my prayers as well. Peace!
