Jason reminds me of my examiner, mine really put me at ease and we got chatting away and found out we’d worked in the same area and probably met each other in passing. I clarified before I set off if it was ok for me to acknowledge/thank other drivers or if he’d do that (was told to drive safely and control the car) Found him so friendly we even had a few jokes and the test flew by and I was so calm. I think we had more banter as I was an older learner so we were a similar age. I thanked my examiner for being so nice after I’d found out I’d passed🙂

I have had pupils fail for not doing a 6 point check when moving away, it was marked as a serious for accumulation of minors. That would tell me it depends on the examiner and at the end of the day it is safer to do the check than not do it.

"Were you intending to drive on the pavement? Well, why do you need to check it then?" Abandoned the 6 point check my instructor made me do long ago. By the time youve checked all 6 on a busy road you'd never get out. In front, road side mirror, road side blind spot and away
@JayZinnon092 ай бұрын
The problem with alot of the things covered is different examiners say different things.And you cannot argue the result at the end. 1. The roundabout bearing left.What if there was a motorbike on the right hand side of you? 2. Six point check, Pupils have failed for not doing this and high built up areas with lots of pedestrians , so why not teach its something to do every time you move off? 3. Give way, all about open and closed junctions and understanding the difference. So agree there, however even in a 30mph people will drive fast and you have to be cautious. Building good habits and being prepared is how pupils should been taught. The biggest issue is things that might never happen on the driving lessons occur in test and you need to have prepared ways to deal with them if so.

Watching this after passing hits different! I just want to say that everything Jason said was with me on my test. The examiner really helped me out in a tricky situation with unexpected temporary traffic lights on a busy high street and was very light-hearted, in fact we had a laugh at state of one of the roads and said it was like Off-Roading 😂 I thought I'd failed for doing over the speed limit right at the start on a Dual Carriageway, but he said I corrected it immediately and only got a minor, but because I thought I'd failed I relaxed and just wanted feedback regardless. I did the best reverse bay park of my life back at the test centre and I thought he left it out on the route as I'd failed, but I still wanted good feedback. I didn't notice him once tap the iPad and he wasn't wearing a hi-vis which was so helpful! I definitely did the best driving of my life on the test which I didn't expect as I was absolutely petrified beforehand. Something happened to me once I got in the car to give me a kick in the backside. No idea what, it was surreal! Thanks again, guys ❤

It’s interesting because I do think in life appearance does make a difference. If you go to buy an expensive car dressed in trackies and non smart clothing I’ve seen car dealerships turn customers away just purely based on what they are wearing. Same when you go for an interview. I think dress code and dressing smartly for your test does help give a good first impression and personally would advise people to dress smart if they can.

i believe a bear left is like when you have multiple lanes and to go left, U HAVE to go in the left lane, its sorta like a merge? so basically your turning left, but you dont have to do anything apart from following the road, whereas at that junction in the video.. u had to stop, and check to see if you could go.. 13:52 if you were in the left lane and went left, id call that bearing left as you are sticking to the left lane to go to that exit, but its a left turn
@DrivingSchoolTV3 ай бұрын

@123TheCloop2 ай бұрын
bear left varies from road to road, bear left in the case of this clip means to keep following the road that "bares round to the left" (so follow the road in the same direction) but on a motorway when coming to an offramp bare left means to be on the left most lane to that offramp. The reason some roads are like this is thanks to road markings with give way double lines. some roads can be "straight" in direction but actually be a left or right turn due to how the road is marked so satnavs would then use the term "bear left or right" if such a bend exists to imply "keep on the same road"
