Intelligent people believe crazy things because they find crazy things in the archives. It’s the only way to discover the truth.

The attitude of the two hosts here is such a problem. No interest in debating Irivngs work on the merit of it's content. Just snide remarks and insults. Imagine having narcissism to a level where you just dismiss a subject matter experts entire works because you just assume you know better than he does.

"Intelligent people believe crazy things because they find crazy things in the archives" But not if you manipulate what you find for the readers of your books as was shown at his trial in 2000.

"exactly, people always call david crazy but can never dispute what he says." Actually plenty do dispute Irving's take. In fact nearly the whole body of WW2 good historians disagree with his take. Read more if you don't believe me.

Insults are not arguments. Hosts need to grow up and engage in proper debate, point, counter point or are they unable to counter what David Irvine actually said?
@thejeep13952 ай бұрын
David Irving has always accounted for documentation for his books. You'll never see this guy in any archives.

1,600 views and 16 likes on this video at the time of this comment. Dr. Irving’s academic methodology is exhaustive in his research citation. Nobody in this video seems capable of understanding what “original source” research is.

I find Irving a fascinating person. From what I've been able to piece together, his research is solid, his writings are very important and should not be discounted or dismissed by scholars of the era. I suspect that in the process of researching and writing his books, he dug through endless documents, interviewed countless people, many of them former Nazis and in the process lost some objectivity. I don't think he is the evil monster painted by Deborah Lipstadt, on the other hand, I don't think he was entirely unbiased in his works either having gotten too close to his sources, he likely found it difficult to see the forest through the trees. I certainly don't feel he was intentionally deceptive. If his goal was to paint the Nazis in a good light, he wouldn't have exposed the Hitler Diaries as a hoax.

And then for no reason at all, Mr Irwing went cRaZy and started writing nonsense
@flashtrash78303 ай бұрын
This was rather vacuous. A journalist/author who you'd think might be better researched. He did not know why (and likely) where Irving was imprisoned and on what charge. He did not know Irving's stance on the holocaust, which fluctuated, except for one period when Irving held the view: Hitler did not know about the holocaust - it was run by his subordinates. Rubbish of course, but a student would be expected to argue that was wrong. Storr puts it in the "barmy" bracket - er...not quite. By the end, I assumed he was taking a day off from being a reporter considering the lack of facts and that he probably went along on the Irving tour (and I bet filmed it) in the hope of getting something sensational but it was a dead-duck not worth the printer's ink. At least Deborah Lipstad did her research correctly. All this does is give succour to the deluded people who think Irving has been un-fairly hounded. (and why am I here, I searched "David Irving" on google, wondering if he was still alive or not)
