I wouldn't say that invisible beast is a secret. I mean, one of the NPCs in the town nearby says that his friend went to the forest to kill the invisible beast with a petard. However, what actually might (?) be interesting is that by killing the beast and coming back to the same guy grants you another petard, which is supposed to be a spare one for the dead guy in the forest.

The invisible beast doesn't have to be killed with a petard, any attack that doesn't target can hit it (such as the fire-spitting item). Saves you the petard for harder fights.
