I painted my workhorse "Smaug the Terrible" backyard roller coaster bogie cart, upgraded the bearings, added a thrust bearing, and ground the wheels round.
I tried to show how the forward and aft wheel bogies work.
Additionally, there were a lot of questions about the other BYRCs in my yard, so I added a tour of all three tracks.

An adult pushes the cart up the hill. This guarantees the presence of adult supervision. And it's much cheaper.

That’s some great engineering. Lately I’ve been thinking about trying to build an aircraft with schedule 40 PVC. I believe that I can make a sold airframe and then use wrap- basically The same way they built World War I Airplanes that were made of wood but in this case pvc . I believe that I can make the cambers for the wings out of a very light wood and I believe that I can use composite wrap for wings. I’d like your engineering thoughts on my idea. I’ll give him the main spar Some thought and I would think that I have to make that out of wood. I think I can use an air cooled VW engine and a wooden prop.Right now it’s just a concept. You are thought to be very much appreciated thanks.

Man, I don't know about PVC in a life-critical application. PVC can fail by shattering (brittle-like), especially if it's been exposed to sun, or if it's cold. Check the specific properties (yield strength per density, and stiffness E per density) of PVC vs aluminum. sciencedirect.com/topics/materials-science/material-selection-chart has some nice charts on specific stiffness and strength of material.. Both PVC strength and stiffness are pretty poor compared to typical aircraft materials. I think early airplanes used certain kinds of wood, but they were very picky about it having higher density (strength) and no flaws like knots. I've heard of people making experimental airplanes out of irrigation aluminum pipes.. Google it. But I wouldn't recommend PVC for anything to do with aircraft. Most people building experimental aircraft nowadays are using as much carbon composites as they can afford. I follow DarkAero, but there are a lot of others.

Paul Gregg What do I have in mind is to build it just like an airframe. Do you know the in airframes we build in small pieces in sections and segments so I think PVC could possibly work if it’s shielded from UV. Do you guys being that it’s light and it’s easy to work with The standard Mono design should work; We basically wrap material around the airframe and the tail for instance where it’s real tight and compresses everything to gather in addition I have an airframe is tight we also have the strength of the wrap

@@Fraiyia Even with sun-UV protection, you can't protect from cold temperatures in service. Plus, it's not really very stiff or strong to begin with. 7475 aluminum has 9 times the strength, and 25 times the stiffness of PVC. I would look at aluminum extrusions (pipes?) of a good alloy instead, or carbon fiber composite.

Hey!! Would you sell 4 wheel green trucks if I paid for them and shipping? I’m building a coaster with my girlfriends little brother and we are recreating our wheel system, and need a wheel bogie instead, but neither of us know how to weld and our only option is to find someone who can make them that we can buy them off of.

I don't think I would, for liability reasons. But, a Harbor Freight 125 flux welder is like $100. That's where I started. Also get the HF thin-blade metal cut off saw and protective helmet/clothes. Maybe a weld table too. Watch some welding videos, and learn a new skill. Or find a friend who knows how to weld.
