Rob, where is the drum stick of your weak hand on the grip module, on the side of it or more towards the rear?
@robepifania
@robepifania 28 күн бұрын
For me it ends up mating up a bit more toward the rear and my firing hand fingertips almost "interlock" together with the support hand palm as well :)

@ thank you for a fast response, so if the muzzle end of the gun is 12 o’clock and the backstrap is 6 o’clock, when you grip with your weak hand, are you applying pressure from say 7 o’clock with weak hand palm and 2 o’clock with support hand finger tips? Thank you for your patience, I’m trying to figure out where you are applying the pressure on the gun
@robepifania
@robepifania 27 күн бұрын
@@83tactical For sure! That sounds accurate to me, but I'm sure that different people will have some variation on it. When it's done correctly, you'll feel like the gun has literally nowhere to go! Experiment a little bit with positioning and let me know what works best for you. You can practice dryfire bill drills to test how well it's working for you. The better it gets, the less the gun moves during those 6 aggressive presses.

Just your sequencing of the draw alone is priceless information. I have tendinitis and I’m not able to grip as hard as I can without tensing up my traps. Fingers palms pressure leverage I am able to create enough friction to shoot as fast as I’m capable of with only using 50% of my grip strength. Ive learned just as much from your videos as I have from Anderson and stoeger classes. Those guys are awesome too, but the way you explain your processes really clicks with me.

@@robepifania I really like how your drills break things down into parts that can be then worked on individually and then work up to the whole maneuver (grip, presentation, trigger control). That's how I learn stuff. I've done classes with a bunch of other GM's and your approach is something that I've found very helpful!

@docgsreloading7985 so glad to hear! I think my approach really comes from a few things: I learned how to instruct before I became the shooter I am teaching in the defensive world I'm an engineer by degree, so my mind works in that highly analytical, physical world I really enjoy helping people to be the best they can be. @@robepifania - I was in a class and using a different gun then my own. The pattern was to the left (9:00) position. Additionally, for the first time I had both eyes open. Currently, I’m waiting for my Beretta 92 GTS to get fixed (I believe a manufacturer default) where the slide was jamming ( disappointing for a new pistol). Moving forward and I will try these techniques once I receive the pistol. Best Eddie
@robepifania
@robepifania 3 ай бұрын
@@Ed-jw1ug Ok good to know! If you were using another gun, I'd suspect that the location of the trigger and the trigger break could potentially be messing with you, in addition to the firing hand tension issue you might be having in general. I'd say try adding more finger on the trigger in general and trying to touch the tip of the finger to the base of the finger (makes a diagonal path) and that might help straighten out your trigger press.

if you work with a velcroed-in kydex front pants pocket holster and "hand in pocket' start, it doesn't take long at all to become fast enough to "beat the drop" which you will NEVER do from a ccw belt rig. Learn to react, draw and hit, the chest at "hand-it-over" distances, from a one-handed "retention" firing -tance, in sub-.60 second. Then learn to react to the timer's beep, draw from the "hand in pocket start, get both hands on the gun, and reliably hit the chest at 10 ft in .75 second. Then learn to side-step as you do both of those things. .20 second of the time shown on the timer is your reaction time, to the beep of the timer. If you start first, in a real fight, that .20 second is on HIM, not you. He'll also have .20 second or more of "recognition interval", to decide that what you're doing is a threat, and .20 second more to move his gun and arm over to your new location. That adds up to .60 second, and he's only going to have .40 second at arm's length or .55 second at 10 ft. The risk of course, is that your first hit on him might not suffice, which means you COULD still get shot (many times) If you're wearing armor, have a cellphone, are near a hospital and have a tourniquet, that risk is lessened, but should not be taken unless you think he's going to harm you anyway. Load your pocket 9mm with Liberty Arms 50 gr, 2000 fps, 450 ft lb solid copper hp ammo. It recoils no more than a hot 380 load, much less than a .38 snub with 158 gr plus P lhp ammo. but with much more probability of a one shot stop. Animal tests and timing of shooting with both types of pocket guns prove this to be true. You can prove it to yourself. The LA ammo is also AP, if you know what that means. It's $2 per round, so sell some gun that you dont use. So it costs $300 to have your pants pockets enlarged by a seamstress, so what?

carry a Kahr CM9 in a velcroed-in kydex front pants pocket holster, When you "smell a rat", have your hand in your pocket, with a firing-grip on the pistol. Load it with Liberty arms 2000 fps, 50 gr, solid copper hollowpoint ammo. 450 ft lbs and no more recoil than a hot 380 load. Animal tests prove this load to be at LEAST as effective as 357 jhp ammo, without the bulk, weight and recoil control problems that everyone has using a 357. The little 9mm looks like a wallet in your pocket and nobody pays any attention to your having your hands in your pocket. A velcro swatch in your coat pocket lets you "palm" the rig and all from or to your coat pocket in bad weather, as you doff or don the coat. Having to fight thru TWO concealing garments REALLY slows down your ccw draw and creates many more chances for a snagged draw, fumble of the gun, bad grip on the gun,, etc. Having your hands in your coat pockets is normal behavior in bad behavior. No, I am NOT talking about firing thru the coat pocket, either.

around the house I put the loaded pocket gun in the OTHER pants pocket and openly wear the "practice gun (belt gun of same tyipe as the practice gun" Then the wear of dryfrire and live fire dont go onto the actual carry gun. (other than a few hundred rds per year of wussy-loaded reloads) I also have a 22lr pocket gun and airsoft pocket gun with which to practice. I keep the chamber empty on the belt gun, but the magzine is loaded. I can rack the slide as I draw, slowing me down only 1/2 second as vs a normal draw and shot. If I have to step outside for some reason, I just untuck my shirt tail and drop it over the openly worn rig.
@EsyuDach

the reality of justifiable civilian gun use is you point the gun at them and they flee. It's almost always a t 5m and less and accuracy means little. If you get both hands on the gun, at least see front sight and control the trigger, youll get the hits on his chest. What matters is having a superfast draw and airsoft and a timer for same lets you get that in your back yard, storage unit, etc, for 1/2c per shot no noise, no range fees. no risk of injury. All you need, really is airsoft gun, holster and a full length mirror, or a tripod for your video/phone, to show you where you have wasted movement.

@EsyuDach

@@Ninrijitsu17 not unless you have to shoot and most of the time, you do not. Most attacks are not made with a gun. I've stopped attacks 6x just by drawing my gun. Misses and warning shots have changed a LOT of minds and so have poor hits, even with feeble loads.
@Ninrijitsu17
@Ninrijitsu17 Ай бұрын
@ the point of training is to be good at shooting, not just able to blast rapid fire at 5 yards. That’s the very beginning. So much more to get good at after that.
@EsyuDach
@EsyuDach Ай бұрын
@@Ninrijitsu17 true, but it's just for fun and not necessary. If I can draw and put 6 hits on your chest at 5 yds in 2 seconds or less, I can put most of them on your torso at 10 yds, just as fast. That's just geometry, In reality, that's PLENTY of accuracy for civilians. Cops might have to deal with longer ranges and guys using cover, but we dont. What you're talking about is just for fun. I"ve put about 200,000 rds downrange at such fun-stuff, but it's just a waste of time and money. Ive placed in the top 10% at 2 world shoots and 3 US nationals in IPSC. and I've seen LOTS of misses of the entire 18" x24" torso at 10 yds, in good light, nothing and nobody moving, ear protection on, nobody trying to kill lthem. They were just trying to get a hit faster than they knew I was going to get it.
@EsyuDach
@EsyuDach Ай бұрын
no, the point of training is to be more than capable of saving yourself when 1-2 pos's trying to harm you or yours. The standard that I taught to Bill Wilson in 1977, the "so called "bill-drill" I got from Thell Reed. I read about it in a 1965 Guns and Ammo mag. React to the beep of the timer, draw and get 6 hits in the 10" vitals-circle at 7 yds in 2.0 seconds or less. The average cop cant get more than 1-2 hits in that same time/distance. You just THINK that you're "good", that's all. i can react, draw from concealment and get a torso hit at 25m in 1.5 seconds, all day long and I used to be able to do so in 1.0 seconds, but from a speed rig.
