Ever wondered how 2D photos are transformed into stunning 3D crystal engravings? In this exclusive interview, I sit down with Riyaz Datoo , President of 3dcrystal.com one of the pioneer in the field, to uncover the laser engraving technology behind these breathtaking subsurface laser-etched crystal displays! Link below if you want to know more!
In this video, we discuss:
✅ What is subsurface laser engraving?
✅ How do you convert a 2D photo into a 3D laser engraving?
✅ What type of laser is used for 3D crystal engraving?
✅ The software and AI used to transform images into 3D designs
✅ How precise laser engraving creates ultra-detailed results inside glass & crystal
✅ The future of 3D laser engraving technology
🎁Want to get your own 3D crystal made? 3dcrystal.com/ Riyaz kicked me a 20% off code to share with all of you its---

Over 20 years ago while visiting Las Vegas there was a vendor that was making the crystals, I got to talking to him and he showed me how the machine worked, in this case it was 2 separate lasers coming in from the back and one from the side, alone they were not strong enough to mark the glass but when both beams hit the same spot it was.

Great information, but the “filler” clips you added are very annoying. Keeping it to relevant demonstration clips would be better.

Is it possible/sane to create your own point cloud file from arbitrary data? I would some sort of file structure that has scaling information and a lot of 3D coordinates with size attributes.

Im sure that you can! I just dont have the first clue on what kind of software would do that, some sort of 3D modeling program for sure. I just dont think its going to be that easy, like modeling a simple 3D shape. Thanks for commenting!

So how did you "mess up" and create your subsurface engrave?
@LaserEngraving911

I was using my UV Laser and focused past the surface of the thick bottom of the glass, and the engraving landed inside the thick glass base, crazy

@@LaserEngraving911 With the exception of it being a 3D engrave inside the glass like to true conversation in the video, how did it look? Would your method work as a "poor man's" subsurface engrave?

I do have a 3D cross made like that inside the glass since the 90s, so this can't be new technology. I believe they got it from somewhere in Mexico

Could they not use the data that the iPhone collects via LiDAR when it takes a photo? I can do a 3D scan with my iPhone 15pro. It can store all of the depth data.
@LaserEngraving911
@LaserEngraving911 4 күн бұрын
Good Question, While the Li DAR on our phone is pretty cool, and depth maps can be stored, it not enough points of data still to get the level of detail needed, it takes software and a human finishing touch to get it just right, Maybe Riyaz will pop in on this question to clarify as well, good question though
@3dcrystal
@3dcrystal 2 күн бұрын
I believe LiDAR is for scanning objects physically present. Our objective has been to achieve 3d accurately from flat photos provided which is what the system described in the interview achieves.

Total machine while cooling fans are running and the laser is burning ~500. We also tested running our booth at shows with many led lights on a battery powered inverter (machine burning / lights shining and all) and it worked. It’s an intereting option for saving on the gouging electricity bill they charge at shows 😂

Yes! Great machine for $27.800,00 but just engrave 3D crystal. It's far too expensive compared to Full Spectrum Laser's Muse UV Galvo Laser with AI 3D scan engraving and very versatile. RetinaEngrave v3.0 software can quickly transform your 2D images into 3D images. Difference is the price $18.000,00

Thanks for sharing your take on equipment pricing, in my opinion, whether it’s fiber lasers CO2 lasers, 3-D crystal engravers or any other high level engraving equipment it’s not just about the rock-bottom price and how cheap you can get it. What really matters to me when I’m picking out a piece of high-end engraving equipment is the company behind it and the after sales support that I will get with that equipment for the lifetime of the equipment and if I have to pay more for that kind of support then that’s usually the company I’m going with

Pricing for the 3dlaserbox jet mini ranges between $14,900 and 27,900. Without knowing too Much about The manufacturer you mentioned we do have some users that have that particular model and use our software for 3d And we are informed that UV is not as brighter in crystal as green beam 532nm. Also Field of view seems to be limited. So I suppose it depends on the business model and if the idea is to do multiple mediums. If the goal is to pump out 3d laser etched crystals and use solutions that offer portability, advanced photo calculation from cellphone to 3d laser in minutes, and ability to engrave multi mode (various shapes sizes and customer files in a Single project) it may be worth reaching out and speaking to the team.
