Excellent stuff, very expansive perspective. One point in question. Would you consider Sri Ramakrisha's teachings concerning Shakti worship as being 'sterile' masculine tantra in disguise? Sri Ramakrishna was consumed by his Beloved Ma Kali and he had a profound love of and reverence for women, even to the point of replacing The Sacred Murti of Kali in the Dakshineshwar Temple with a prostitute. The prostitute was hired by Ramakrishna's nephew in an attempt to bring his Ma Kali besotted uncle down to earth! Sri Ramakrishna brazenly declared to the Brahmins (who considered his actions to be sacrilege) that the prostitute was sacred by virtue of being a woman and that she was a living embodiment of his Beloved Divine Mother. However, Sri Ramakrishna totally eschewed sexuality, insisting that celibacy is vastly superior to engaging in sex.
