I came across your video a few months ago and have used your process to make all my hats! They have turned out awesome and everyone loves them. Your process is so easy and it works! I recommend your video and process to everyone who asks how I get my patches to look so good. Thank you for sharing your process and breaking it down step by step!

Thank You! Looking to work with leather on my laser cutter for the first time and this was SO useful to me. I hadn't considered making the hat patches - have been looking more in the knit/crochet notions space, but now I want to at least make hats for family and friends. I'm particularly grateful for the sourcing, lightburn cut settings, and finishing info.

If you want to save time and have a hat press use Hydbond adhesive to adhere your patch for a permanent bond.
@RealDustyChandler

I've tried HydBond and always had troubles with the corners. I'm using a Hotronix 360IQ as well. I also spoke to PG Hat Co and (although I'm not sure of which bonding agent they use..guess it's a secret..he did say they don't heat press..they use a bonding agent) and they've done tens of thousands of hats.

I have a Hotronix 360IQ and use LoneStar but I still have issues with corners/edges lifting from time to time. I just ordered a Jack S5 Post bed sewing machine which will be delivered within the next two weeks. I see a lot of hat makers out there using Barge Cement to adhere patches without having to use a hat press.

Great video! Very inclusive. Love it. My wife stumbled upon your KZbin. We’re presently in the market for a CO2 laser machine. Since we’re already producing and selling T-shirts, owning an engraving marking will add to our business. We were looking for a more inclusive video on how to crate leather patches from start to finish and make it a huge part of our business. That’s how we stumbled upon this video. We’ll continue to review more of your videos for more information. Thank you 🙏🏾. I find it interesting that you don’t heat press your hats. I thought that was the only means to apply patches to hats, regardless of the type of glue you’re using. Very interesting.

Love your transparency training, but cannot believe you haven't got a glue press rig for the hats patches. MADE OUT of WIG FOAM HEADS at least. Having to paint on glue, position and hold everyone for 30+ seconds. Patience of Jobe. for many things I made a 3/4" melamine VAC Box w micro hole all over top. The platform holds down EVERYTHING fro gluing or spraying and will suck right thru paper towel sheets, so you can keep the vac box top clean. You can suck patches to hats if you block it right. Al least a press jig.

@esentl
@esentl Жыл бұрын
this was a great question I am surprised he did not answer you, I see this question asked alot in other videos, you typically will not need to dilute it, especially if you are using a standard harbor freight airbrush, but make sure you do clean it right away as Resolene can get sticky real quick when your done. also do a back fill "clean" on your airbrush with 70% alcohol or acetone cleaner, as well the needle.....I also usually use a metal polish for my needle to make sure its smooth and clean, same will apply to pro dye as well

I own the Gweike Pro myself. The information in Lightrom when cutting leather can never be correct. Please show me how to cut 1.5mm thick leather at a speed of 30mm/sec and 90% power with a 50 watt laser. The values for the laser engraving are also not correct. Typically, the Gweike Pro engraves leather at 350mm/sec and a power of 50%-55%.

Congrats. You grew up to the big dogs. I have run lasers for about 25 years. Right now have 3 co2 Chinese made lasers. Each one cheaper then the glow forge. I hate hearing the words glow forge, as in my opinion you spend too much for what you get. I also don't like diode laser due to safety concerns. But I understand why people do buy those, you just need to be careful. Even the $2k-$3k co2 lasers in the past 10 years from china are really good. I have owned the $40,000 lasers. I won't do that again. Have fun, and congrats.
