to David Butcher - I'm so so sorry for the loss you have faced. Edit - also, thinking it through.. the absolute *worst* would be losing your wife and THEN getting messed up and being a shell via CFS when you have a kid or kids who already lost a parent and now have someone who feels like a shadow of one. I haven't had this loss to cope with and am frankly grateful that my wife is here to help with so much, so that I've been able to fashion new activities to be capable of doing with my kids.

Raymond Gilmour I've almost recovered using just the OHC online resources, in addition to some local help from CBT, counselling, and other practioners who aren't specialists in ME/CFS. I think essentially you have to become your own therapist. Educate yourself about your illness, figure out what your triggers & enabling factors are, then start looking after yourself better. It's a long road for most, myself included, but you'll be stronger for it. Good luck!

I liked the focus on nutrition and functional medicine to begin with, I just wish there had been more details. For example, what symptoms did he have, what happened about his thyroid was it only treated through rebalancing the whole body? How did they approach the adrenals and what blocks did the nutritionist work on? I think we really need more details to be able to clearly understand the process and have more hope.

This is ridiculous. No one needs to see 8 different GPs to get a diagnosis of ME/CFS. All GPs should know nowadays what it is and how to diagnose it. Sudden onset ME is caused by an enterovirus infection which causes an injury to certain parts of the brain and that injury is a vasculitis. CBT does not work. The only current treatment is the body's own way of recovering from its injury. This chap here had a slow onset CFS which could be caused by a number of different reasons. ME and CFS are two different problems. One is caused by an enteroviral infection (Sudden onset ME) and CFS is caused by a number of different pathogens and causes. SInce GPs have all been falsely told by Michael SHarpe psychiatrist at Oxford that ME/CFS is just a biosocial illness and CBT will help a patient recover, no tests are done except standard GP tests to rule out other illnesses that can cause fatigue. ME and CFS are not just fatigue. For ME, you also need to have a) cognitive problems such as word finding difficulties and concentration problems and sometimes ataxia and b) orthostatic intolerance difficulty getting up and staying in the upright position and also c) post exertional malaise. The thyroid in ME/CFS are usually normal although thyroid cancer is much higher in the ME/CFS population. I had normal thyroid and adrenal chemistry. This video is about non ME CFS. No amount of yoga and meditation is going to cure an neuroimmune injury in the brain. It might help you feel well inside I suppose to help you get through the day but that is all.
