When the ball has too much spin it tends to be active off the rim. You want a soft ball on the rim. One with little or no rotation.

Derek Rose, and great job shot science. I play AAU and my points and assists have doubled since watching you guys
@ShotScience11 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a lower percentage shot. We're always going to be fans of taking it to the defense, creating space and/or contact, and getting the higher percentage shot. That said, it is another thing to have at the ready; just not something we think should be a go-to or regularly used move.

Yes, which is why it should be used sparingly. We would consider it a lower percentage shot.

Well, it's more about generating advantages over the defense. You do that by being in control, creating space, and challenging them to react. Most of our offensive moves show you how to do that. Thanks for watching!!

First of all congratulations on your great job and your excellent video. I think in NBA there are the best players in the world of course, but I believe that Juan Carlos Navarro, who played in Memphis Grizzlies in 2007/08 season too, has the best floater I´ve ever seen. Navarro is one of the best European players in history and he can do floaters with both hands, far or short floaters, with either one foot o two feet and he does it very usually every game. And finally he surely makes an influence on Spanish young basketball learners as we can check in the following video: LA "BOMBA" NAVARRO (TIRO POR ELEVACIÓN)

Whenever you play outside, you're going to have to deal with variables that make things a little more difficult than playing indoors. You really just have to work through it or find another place to work on your game. I'd say that unless the dustiness is really making it impossible to play, then you're probably fine working out there. You may need a little bit of an adjustment period when you go other places, but you should be fine.

Coach I go to the gym everyday for 3-4 hours. And I work on everything but focus on shooting. Okay! You don't have to have great handles or an amazing shot. One of the key things to remember when you attack another player is to ATTACK THEM HARD!" If they are getting their hand on the ball on your cross it's probably because the cross is too high and/or too slow! Check out the video and see what we recommend on these things. Patience, you will get it! Just keep workin on it!

Training your weaker hand is actually exactly the same as training your strong hand, with the exception that you will have to put in more time and effort to get it up to the level of your stronger hand. More repetitions, more concentration, and a lot of consistency. Check out our "Dribbling 101" video, the "Developing your Weaker Hand" video, and the "Layups 101" video. Good luck!

Where can I find the two foot float version for this?
@BrockMak11 жыл бұрын
I did the actual version a few times when I hurt my wrist many years ago, you put far less spin on the ball because you don't flex your fingers on the follow through. I just put my arm up higher, then slide my whole hand (flat palm) off the ball to get higher arc. The second one Curry did relied on quick release. First one was clearly a longer-distance finger roll that Dr. J used to do.

@thebrofessor39007 жыл бұрын
Coach, Imma just say that some of the advice I specifically don't follow, and this is from somebody who can.... REALLY only hit runner, I'm dragging it out and working to be consistent from 20-23 feet. deep? yes. But it keeps the defender honest in the rare times I handle the ball, and even when I hang out after a pick or cut-out. If one is approaching with good momentun, and presuming they are right handed like myself, I would recommend a more pushed-off dribble whilst dragging the left foot behind to setup the single-step launch once you gather. This lessens momentum and forces the defender to commit or risk, and with one such as I... Risk is not worth it within the typical range of a runner (15 feet and within). After that I recommend swaying back as some teach with a jump shot, or as most try with a fader or a pull-up. This seperates the actions undertaken to shoot from the defender if they do indeed try to commit, whilst also granting a higher arc if one shoots it properly.
@thebrofessor39007 жыл бұрын
I'd note that I seldom explain things, last I did such was when I had a consistent (averaged 4 made per 10 attempts) slightly fading hookshot from the post... from ft range. Lack of upkeep has lost the consistency but the form and basics are there still. I do need help on my freethrow. Shoot about an Andre Drummond %, and unlike him I actually practice

Tony Parker, I see a lot of people are choosing Derrick Rose. Although he is my favorite Point Guard, he doesn't have the best floater. He drives to the whole with Poohdini-like lay ups. Anyone who truly knows basketball would choose TP or CP3. Those two are hard to choose from.
@nardiverbanac671411 жыл бұрын
Floater is one of the best shots in the game. It looks very easy, but it isn't. Great explanation. You named Rondo, Parker and Chris Paul for using the floater. You should have named Juan Carlos Navarro, who is in my opinion the best floater shooter in the world.

I do this trick and i get past easily, fake the pass and drive in, and when you are doing this, do something unexpected, also, if you get an offensive rebound, do the putback really fast, but don't rush it, because you might over power it.

Hey Coach some questions you said eliminate any spin on the ball but mine has considerable amount of back spin into it and it works pretty well- any disadvantages if we do have the ball spinning? Also the bigs I play with are around 6'11 and they have long wingspan. It works during the game but I want to perfect it. How high do you recommend I should float it during practice reps? Is there a specific area I should be aiming for during my reps? Thanks always appreciate!
