excellent video. I love these videos where y'all break down a type of play and shows how it works and why it works. If you make more, i'll definitely be watching.

I'm always asking my teammates to do "ram screens". Didn't know there was a name. Really cool how you showed what to do when your man sags, a la DeAndre: set a screen for a good shooter!

Very cool. Maybe it's just me, but it was hard for me to follow it in each clip, since I didn't know who would be screening until the ram screen was already done. Some kind of highlight of the ram screen would have been helpful.

Your analyisings are absolutly great and moreover intressting couch nick :) hope you make more of this videos where you show some tactics of different teams, i already used some of them against my friends and they really work as you said with the ram screen :)

The knicks would be absolutely terrifying because they could use ram screens for Porzingis to get a pick and pop going, or to Noah for a pick and roll and he can find weak side cutter.

Glad to see that GSW uses the traditional Pick & Roll the least 😄😄😄😄. It gets overused by lazy coaches instead of multiple passes = Ball movement & Player movement by GSW for 300 passes per game.

Interesting video, would such a ram screen be less effective if the defence switches on the ram screen?
@TheOfficialQU4KE8 жыл бұрын
This may create a mismatch, as the guard will set a screen for the centre. So while the actual play wouldn't be as effective, a good team will be able to exploit this mismatch.
@thomashaan088 жыл бұрын
Indeed, so this could be a defensive strategy reserved for the teams that do not mind to 'switch 1 through 5'.

Coach, is it possible to identify which team pioneered the use of the ram screen? I would think it's a Popovich invention to counter the Heat blitz, but it's just an assumption.

The fact that Golden State Warriors doesn't emphasize the Pick & Roll makes me very happy. Other NBA teams are on this Russell Westbrook/ Dame Lillard kick with PGs having sticky with ball in Pick & Roll. If you want to beat the champs, stop this 90% Pick & Roll madness.
@thomasgarcia81187 жыл бұрын
DeAndre Page Do you watch basketball? The PNR opens up countless opportunities and there are hundreds of variations and twists look at MDA. He made an offense strait from PNR and Zipper action
@deandrepage10487 жыл бұрын
Thomas Elliott You don't listen too well 😂😂😂. Golden State Warriors do not depend on Pick & Roll !!! The ball moves faster than any human. Most high school coaches look for the best athlete they can find & run constant Pick & Roll. Most basic ass offense known to man, so coaches watch the European League & learn new ways to TRICK-PLAY it up 😂😂😂. Golden State Warriors don't depend on Pick & Roll. You are talking to a former B-BALL coach youngblood.
@deandrepage10487 жыл бұрын
Thomas Elliott As a former coach, let me help you SON, most of use Pick & Roll when everything else breaks down, guess why ???? Because it's EASY asf to install, you can do it in 1 night of practice. More intelligent offense takes longer. OKC has loved Pick & Roll for years because it's SIMPLE. European League tries to TRICK-IT-UP with gadgets. Us Old-School coaches know better. Golden State Warriors use Multiple Passes & player movement. Fundamentally Sound basketball. Class is in session 😁😁😁
@thomasgarcia81187 жыл бұрын
DeAndre Page is it hard to integrate any offense with the right players in the NBA? The short answer is no. Zipper action, Floppy actions and 21 series plays are 90% of what Golden State runs and those can be integrated over night. It’s not hard to get guys to run through 2-4 off ball screens in a play. Not to mention Houston runs a lot of 21 series plays horns, and some Floppy action mixed in a bit. you do not watch any basketball if you haven’t noticed that. The only team I can say in the nba that depends 100% on PnR action is the Trail Blazers but with two of the top five scoring guards in the league it doesn’t matter
@thomasgarcia81187 жыл бұрын
I know your gonna ask me how I know so here’s an example. Gerald Green against Boston had ~3 Floppy plays called for him on his first night as a Rocket and he executed them perfectly and he had just showed up to the gym on an hours notice. Really “complicated” to integrate huh?

Most RAM screeners are PERIMETER PLAYERS 😎😎😎. If you watch, they never really set the screen, just swipe by. A 2-Guard Front would be better , so a 3-Point shooting BIG receives the down-screen & flashes high to set that RAM screen
@redconsciousness20908 жыл бұрын
if you cant defend the pick n roll then you are dead..really dead. That was the problem for the lakers back in 2012 because there was nobody that could defend it. Gasol sucks in PnR defense, Howard didnt give a damn, nash is nash and sucked on D his whole life and Kobe didnt care either. You need to be a great PnR team if you want to do something in this league
@deandrepage10487 жыл бұрын
Pick & Roll is the #1 strategy because coaches have become LAZY asf. 1 player can dominate the ball & force defense to react. With 3 excellent shooters spotting up, you don't have to be a Popovich or Phil Jackson, just let the PG takeover. I am so glad the Lakers are drafting Lonzo Ball, he makes Early Offense outlet passes then goes to the RIGHT (hardly ever Left) wing/ corner. The other teammates get more touches & chances to initiate the offense.
@ForeverPurpleNGold8 жыл бұрын
The best way to defend the ram screen is to ice the pick and roll, I will take a big taking a long 2 every day of the week
@XaphillyatedX7 жыл бұрын
this shows that players dont hustle, do early work to be ready for the offence and actually know how to play defense....

But the Clippers changed quite a bit their pick and roll coverage these last 2 seasons, they are not hedging every single time anymore.

its just equilibrium. once new offense is implemented as it is innovative effeciency will be high once teams learn how to defend it goes back to equilibrium thats all.
