For the prayer man, I also attend a MeKas church. It is encouraged to pray over your meal before consuming it. If you forget, just remember to give thanks later. The purpose of praying over your meal. Is to bless the mean with God’s grace, so that it nourish you, strengthen you, and bless you with health. You never know who is cursing the meal they put in front of you, or have ill intentions. When you start praying in public. It is uncomfortable, as you think others are judging you. But just like everything else. Keep it up and soon it’ll become the normal for you. Your relationship with God/Jesus is between you guys.

To the boy regarding praying - You should never be ashamed of your own religion. And you should never judge another person if they want to pray and give thanks to God in public. Everyone’s walk with God is different. Praying and giving thanks to the Lord is a lifestyle that true Christians do in their daily lives. If you forgot to pray, then it’s because you don’t add it to your lifestyle. However any person want to express themselves, that is up to them, you should never tell a person to do this or that. If they want to pray in public before a meal is up to them because it’s what’s in their hearts. It’s because they love God and they appreciate the blessings God has given them. I think you need more learning since you’re still young and your walk with God is the bare minimum because I guarantee, once you know God and you are touched by His love, you won’t be embarrassed.

#1, to the lady about the weight. I agree that any relatives who love n care about us should use verbiage in a kind way. But you should take this as both good and bad. Not everyone is going to be nice. If they are too kind or stay quiet would you even care, realize or wake up? Do you want to or care to be healthy, ask yourself. If you are naturally a plus size women or enjoy being one, who cares. Toss everything she say to you out the window. On the otherhand, you can get hurt, upset and angry and use this as a tool to make a positive outcome towards a healthy lifestyle for you, your husband, and children.

To the question of praying before meal: you should always say grace before your meal no matter where you are because He loves you so much that He never forsake you and provide a meal for you to eat. You should not be a shame of Him in praying in public because the Lord Jesus died for your sin publicly so you can be saved.

To the brother who wrote in about praying. I think you've made a mistake in saying that other races don't pray before eating in public and are not as crazy about Christianity as Hmong people. The praying in public before eating and the level of being devout is based on a person's individual belief. I've seen many different kinds of people or race pray before eating, in public. There is nothing wrong with it at all. And there should be nothing shameful about it. I grew up Christian but am no longer. I am an agnostic now. But I believe that every person is entitled to believe what they want as long as it doesn't hurt or harm someone else. And also..that they don't force their beliefs on others.

To the boy that said you shouldn't pray in public. As Christian, I'm not ashamed of saying grace before each meal no matter where I am at. I go to Meeka's church and when I go out to eat with my Sisters In Christ we always prays before each meals. It’s a common practice for most Christians, whether it be a Tuesday taco night or a Thanksgiving feast, to say “grace” before a meal. Part of the reason we pray before a meal is simply because that’s exactly what Jesus did. Throughout the Bible, we see stories of Jesus feeding large crowds of people. When he fed thousands with fish and loaves, “he looked up to Heaven and said a blessing” (Matthew 14:19). At the Last Supper, Jesus passed the cup to his disciples and told them the elements were representative of his body and his blood, given for them, and he gave thanks. Time and again, we see Jesus give thanks to God in all things. Whether it’s a meal with friends or in the Garden of Gethsemane when He is awaiting his death, Jesus turns to His father to give thanks. 🙏🏼

#1: i am someone who is blunt and have no filter as well, but i wouldn’t say rude things so loud to hurt anyone’s feelings or get anyone’s nerve. Some people come from a good place to talk about it but some aren’t. I feel like weight is such a sensitive topic esp when it’s us women. Q1: my mom is like that old lady too. Yes, old people are rude and it’s ok to call them out. Even though I don’t like how blunt my mom is, I am glad she keeps me in check with my weight. I do see that Hmong women are heavier than other Asian women. We do need to cut back on the roast pork, pho, sausages, and sticky rice. It’s not just about looks, but also our health. When you are heavier, it’s harder to walk and you have more health issues.

For Q2, you probably shouldn’t announce it to the world that you inherited life insurance money. If anyone asks you, you are not obligated to answer. The secret about the man forgot to prey before eating his meal. I agreed with him saying that some strict hmong Christians need to change because white Christians aren't strict like that. For example, when my father did a hu plig for my daughter. We slaughtered a pig and made the traditional pork dish with veggies. My white friend, who was a Lutheran, came over and ate at the table with us. She did not hesitate to eat the food at all. So why is that hmong Christians won't eat when we do stuff like that?
