Very interesting to see the section "tied up" after yesterday's comment. Watching the tug deftly pulling around a barge, VERY cool. Thanks Capt Andy!

Some very welcome good news! Hopefully things will go well from here on. I think everyone will cheer when the Golden Ray is finally off the bottom, and the VB leaves. It’s been a long tough struggle.

Once again Andy you're the best. I am just imagining the cost of this cleanup/salvage to be 2.5X the cost of this ship being built after all is said and completed. Never knew that this ship sinking has caused such a shortage of new cars! :>)

Another great video Captain. Thanks again for posting them. With the way the tug swung around with the barge attached, I wonder if that boat has Azi pods instead of straight shafts? It's an old school designed boat, not one of the high-tech style those kind of tugs tend to have. If that tug captain swung that rig around like that with straight shafts, he or she did, that shows some great seamanship and ship handling skills that person posseses. Have a safe day today when you head out on the sound.

Tugs pull cargo barges between the Hawaiian Islands. When they bring a barge into port the large ocean going tug has to hand it off to a smaller tug that will handle the barge within the port. It's amazing to watch as a crew person has to board the barge and cast free the original heavy long tow line and then secure the smaller tug to the side of the barge to move it around within the confines of the harbor. The tow line on the ocean going tug is extremely long, as they want slack in the line at all times. The weight of the line drops it down into the water, even when the barge is under tow. The ocean tug is a great distance in front of the barge. if the tow line ever snaps and breaks the recoil is extremely dangerous.

Greetings Andy, Around 9 months ago you showed the VB 10,000 on site. When the Golden Ray is finally removed would you please show some footage of the VB 10,000 being towed away? I would like to see the towing operations needed to move this monstrosity. Thank You for your videos.

Captain Andy, What are the pieces of white stuff at about 9 - 10 minutes? It appears to be floating junk that the tug and barge moved past. Hope the environmental crews swooped and scooped. So, what will you do when this nightmare is over and life on the Sound returns to normal? Thank you for your diligence in reporting.

Do they impose a perimeter to keep spectator boats away from the process? For me, the greatest surprises will come after the wreck is cleared and they go fishing for more fried vehicles. What a show!

One more thing Captain, is this going to be the last cut?
@wyomingadventures3 жыл бұрын
Michael one more cut after this one. That's going to be interesting. Wondering if they will do the last cut different. Since there will be just two sections cut in half. At least I think it might be interesting. Who knows the guys on the VB probably have it all figured out already.
