Jackson is back for another haircut and boy does he have some hair to work with. I'm going to take some time to break down some of my sectioning techniques. I know that is something that we often struggle with as barbers. We'll also get into a few of my favorite ways to add texture to our cuts. Do u have to do sectioning with scissor work to debulk the sides or can u js go with the num 4 or 3 guard lever open/closed with a flick out motiob and to top it off sum thinning shears work?

Hey Sean, I'm really impressed with your content. This is the first time I've watched your videos, but I'm definitely a new subscriber now. I'm an amateur barber from Brazil who cuts my own hair and family members' hair. I have a 10-year-old boy with curly coarse hair. Would you recommend using block graduation to cut his hair with more length on the sides and just a slight tapering around the ears? I usually try not to use the razor. On most heads it’s a little irritating on the client. If I can get it sharp enough with my trimmers I just use them

Definitely do what’s most comfortable for you. However sometimes when you do the top last the sides don’t look quite right. When you do the top first you are cutting into a finished product

Draw on a dry erase board. Color it solid then cut / erase the line with something like you’re doing it in hair. That’s how I figured out some of the more complex designs. Then just take your time and practice on real heads. If you have clients you cut bald see if you can “doodle” on them before you shave it

I guess it’s a stylistic preference,but wouldn’t it be better to take a profile section down the middle? Also again, stylistic approach, but pullIng everything down to the base keeps a lot of weight especially for someone with thick hair. I’m sure it all comes down to preferences, looks good though
